In the summer of 2022, before the start of the NBA season, Los Angeles Lakers were on a quest to strengthen their team after the last year\’s humiliating exit. As a part of their squad shake-up strategy, the Lakers acquired veteran point guard Patrick Beverley from Utah Jazz in a high-profile trade deal. At the time of his arrival, many believed that he might take Russell Westbrook\’s place on the side. But unfortunately, this season for Beverley has been \’ Great cry, little wool\’. Therefore, now rumors are lurking about his trade.

Are The Lakers Trading Patrick Beverley?

In one of the most talked-about trade deals of the 2022 summer, the LA Lakers acquired Utah Jazz\’s, Patrick Beverley. The move made much sense as the LA point guard Russell Westbrook had a forgetful time in the 2021 season. With the arrival of Beverley, the Lakers fans hoped that he would provide some much-needed support to the Lakers\’ frontline offense.

Many people believed that Patrick Beverley would be a more suitable replacement for Westbrook, who previously seemed to have lost his magic. But what happened was the exact opposite. After a few initial games, Westbrook returned to his making impact in some very crucial matches for the team. On the other hand, Beverley\’s struggle this season has been terrible. Beverley has played most of the games for the side. But he has not been able to leave his mark even in one game.

Patrick\’s points tally has failed to reach the double-digit mark in the entire season. So far in the season, Patrick Beverley averages just 4.1 points with 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Heis shooting has been particularly awful. As a result, the team has been forced to consider trading him before the trade window shuts.

The Lakers will eventually need to make a deal due to their uneven on-court performances in order to increase their chances of success in the future. Regarding this, recent speculations have already stated that the front office plans to start moving players they signed as free agents in mid-December.

Recently, the Athletic\’s Jovan Buha has listed a few names who might be on the trade radar of the Lakers. And it is no surprise that Patrick Beverley has found himself on the list, given his plunging performance throughout the season. With a 13 million dollar contract, Beverley is the fourth hight-paid Lakers player. Therefore, from a financial viewpoint, it would make much sense for the Lakers to trade away Patrick Beverley. The team can not afford to carry players who aren\’t doing much, given their situation this season.
