The Los Angeles Lakers have been incredible this year. Although the incredible factor came after February, there is no denying the roller coaster ride the Lakers have seen. This year brought them their worst and best, all at the right time. If their worst performance had carried on a little more, it would have compromised their chances of the playoffs. And with a 108-106 overtime victory, they have sealed their spot in the playoffs. It displays the character of the team and the right decisions that the team has taken.

The Lakers started the season with 2-10, in the beginning, holding that 13th position in the Western Conference. Thankfully it did not go so bad they had to touch the bottom of the table early on in the season. However, Darvin Ham and the front office kept their patience to make only the best changes for the team. Despite all the hate, they managed to make some great calls to improve the overall outlook of the team. And in the process, they made history.

It is historical to see the team climb up to the playoffs after starting a disastrous season. But that is not something that has made history in the NBA. The fact that the 2020 champions qualified is only part of the history as it involves other teams as well. The Lakers’ presence in the playoff means that all the California franchises have managed to reach the pinnacle of the league. All four will now compete against each other for the title. And this has happened for the first time in the history of the NBA.

The four teams that have reaped their fruits this season are Golden Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, and finally, the Lakers. The difference between them and the purple and gold is rest had a smooth season during the year. But the Lakers always had uncertainty around them. Therefore becoming a part of the history of such a difficult season enhances the celebration.

For the Lakers, it is clear that they will face the Memphis Grizzlies, the second position holder in the table. Moreover, Golden State Warriors will face their neighbors, Sacramento Kings, for their first playoff round. And LA Clippers, who have dominated the rest of these teams, will face the Pheonix Suns.

It is astonishing to see them qualify, as it has never happened that all four teams secured a qualification. All the playoffs before this year have only featured a maximum of three California teams. So it calls for California celebration as they continue to fight against each other. Regardless of everything, the spectators are going to enjoy the show.
