A Ferrari announcement in February shocked the entire F1 world. The signing of Lewis Hamilton by one of the most iconic F1 teams was an unexpected turn. Although the seven-time world champion had a contract with Mercedes, he decided to move to Maranello. The swap came after back-to-back dull seasons where the Silver Arrows failed to produce a competitive car. As a result, Hamilton lost his charm and remained winless for almost 1000 days.

Therefore, the Briton decided to start his Eighth world title quest with the Prancing Horse. The record-breaking world title almost came in 2021, when Hamilton lost by bare margins. However, the 39-year-old racer is not giving up and is adamant about performing better with the Italian crew. Meanwhile, he revisited the “terrifying” moment when he broke the news to Wolff.

Lewis Hamilton recently reflected on a pivotal moment in his career when he decided to break the news of his next move over breakfast. Hamilton, who has been a part of Mercedes since 2013, described it as a nerve-racking experience, especially when informing his boss of the significant decision. The Briton shared that signing the contract was a whirlwind of emotions, and telling his team was one of the most daunting aspects.

Hamilton explained that his decision to consider Ferrari was deeply influenced by childhood memories of watching Michael Schumacher claim five world championships with the iconic team. As a young fan, he recalled watching the legendary red Ferrari on track and wondering what it would be like to be behind the wheel of such a prestigious car. This connection to Ferrari’s legacy significantly influenced his interest in joining the Maranello-based squad.

Lewis Hamilton has made it clear that he aims to cap off his Mercedes career with a win this season. He finally ended his long 945-day wait for a victory with an emotional home triumph at Silverstone. His win at the Belgian Grand Prix extended his incredible record to 105 career victories in Formula 1, with 84 achieved since he joined Mercedes from McLaren.

When asked at Monza whether the countdown to his final races was becoming more emotional, Hamilton acknowledged that the sentiment has been present throughout the year. He expressed how each race carries an emotional weight, knowing his time with the team is winding down. He emphasized his deep affection for his team, reflecting on their shared challenges and successes over the years.

Hamilton noted that with each race, he is closer to the last time he will compete in a Mercedes car, making each moment more significant. While he admitted that it would be tough to leave, he focused on delivering his best performances for the team and finishing his journey on a high note.
