Lewis Hamilton is the most decorated driver in the history of Formula One. He has won the most races and shares the most titles with the legend Michael Schumacher. Till 2020 Hamilton was the driver and had the car every team was looking forward to beating. In the following year, he was overthrown as Max Verstappen became the new champion in F1 Motorsport.

The Dutchman successfully defended his title last season. After the opening race in Bahrain in 2023, Verstappen proved that he is the new driver on the block and has the best car on the grid, which every team wants to beat. But true champions never give up. The seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton, is not having a good time on the track for a couple of seasons in a row, including the current one. He is 38 but not looking to give up so soon.

The opening race in Bahrain was not an ideal way to start, as the W14 car finished as the 4th fastest in the grid. Lewis Hamilton lost to Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso. Apparently, Aston Martin looks like the second fastest after Red Bull. They are the new threat to Red Bull’s title-winning ambitions. Moreover, they have reportedly used a lot of Mercedes products to build their car, like wind tunnels.

Lewis Hamilton Is Losing Faith In Neither Mercedes Nor Himself

Unfortunately, Mercedes is nowhere near where they thought it would be at this point. But Lewis Hamilton has made it clear that whatever happens, he is not going anywhere. His contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the current season. And here are a lot of speculations about whether he will stay with the Silver Arrows even after they fail to provide him with another championship-winning car.

Regarding this, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that he is a fighter and he is eager to win the coveted eighth title. The Briton reckoned that he has a great rapport with boss Toto Wolff and would like to continue their relationship as long as they can. Lewis agreed that they would like to start on a positive note with the car. But ultimately, it is the journey the team goes through together. Win or lose won’t matter in case of deciding to leave the family.

Hamilton further asserted that it feels like forever to him as a part of Mercedes. And the team has supported him in every way they could. That is why Lewis Hamilton hopes that if not this season, then next year, perhaps they will get there again but together as a team. Mercedes finished as the fourth fastest in the constructor’s title after the Sakhir opener too. They were almost a minute behind the Milton Keynes team in the opening race of the driver’s title in Bahrain.

That is so not good for a champion team of the turbo-hybrid era. The cost-cap era is proving to be really difficult for the German Racing team. Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have a very challenging task ahead. This season is going to have the most races in recent F1 history. Hence, Mercedes will have time to get back to the title contention.
