“Lakers Will Make The Playoffs As The 6th Seed Without LeBron James,” Claims Nick Wright

The Lakers did not have a great season as of now and hence had been lingering at the bottom of the table for a long time. Since the inception of the current season, the LA side has faced issues with injuries and a lack of balance in the roster. It took a lot of time to solve the problem of balance in the roster. But they solved it before the February trade deadline as they gave up Westbrook and brought in young and skillful talents to the squad.

The team looked good enough to bounce back when things fell apart again. After Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell returned from a big break due to an injury, they helped the Lakers to gradually climb up the table. Fans were scared after LeBron James was gone for an uncertain period. But the team has done pretty well without the King, winning seven in twelve games since February 26.

Nick Wright Claims Lakers Will Finish As The 6th Seed

The last match against the Phoneix Suns was supposed to be a challenging encounter. Since the Suns are the 4th seed, and the Lakers, on the other hand, are the 10th seed currently. However, the hosts got on the tough opponents and won the game 122-111. The Suns were obviously not happy with the loss. But the Lakers keep their hopes alive to make the playoffs. Albeit, the question remains, can they make it? The host of the Fox Sports show First Things First, Nick Wright believes the Lakers have a great chance to make the playoffs. In the next three games, the Lakers face the Thunder once and the Bulls twice.

Wright reckons these games must be easy for the purple and gold brigade. If they capitalize on it, then they will have a winning streak that will get them to the 6th seed in the Western Conference. Albeit, it seems a bit far-fetched as the Lakers did not have that kind of a season so far. For a long time, they have been looking for a streak but could not carry on the momentum. The Lakers can point at a lot of reasons for their failure to maintain a streak. But at the end of the day, the fact is they are in this position due to the lack of a streak.

Even being a star-studded side, why have the Lakers been lingering at the bottom of the table? Do they want to repeat their predicament of the last season again this time? During that time, LeBron James was all over the headlines of every newspaper as he was getting nearer to breaking the ‘Captain’s record. He got questions like how much these individual accomplishments meant to him.

He replied that it felt great, but he would prefer winning the championships. Especially James cannot miss the postseason back-to-back. As he mentioned, that is not in his DNA. Hence, LeBron James would be eager to come back to help his team get there. When he returns, it will be interesting to see how Ham shuffles the lineup. As some of the players like Russell, Davis, Reaves, and Beasley have been on top of their form.
