Los Angeles Lakers are looking to build a super team around the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, the front office would hope for James to stay for a while for that. After the Western Conference Finals ended on a humiliating note, the 4-time MVP hinted about retiring a couple of times. But the 38-year-old still looks in good touch and may continue to play for a few more years in the NBA.

Despite that, there are a lot of rumors about LeBron James retiring or even moving to the Dallas Mavericks to reunite with his friend Kyrie Irving. But it seems highly unlikely that James would move to the Mavericks from the Lakers. Hence, as long as King James stays on the roster, the front office will build a team around him. Moreover, Anthony Davis does not look like moving to his hometown franchise, Chicago Bulls, anytime soon. Hence, the King and AD will lead the Lakers as they have done for the last five years. But what kind of changes the front office can make to turn the roster into a super team?

According to some recent reports, the Lakers’ front office has their eyes on the No. 2 overall pick from the draft of 2016, currently playing for the New Orleans Pelicans, Brandon Ingram. This power forward has impressed the fans in recent times. He is young, skillful, and brilliant. In the current season, he averaged 24.7 points per game, 5.8 assists per game, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Moreover, Ingram is doing that on 48.4% field goals, plus he scores 39.0% three-pointers field goals along with 88.2% free throws. These stats are clear signs of an elite NBA star in the making.

The 25-year-old forward of the Pelicans can play for the Lakers for a long time. However, to sign him, the front office will have to give up a couple of first-round picks of 2029 and a player with a sign-and-trade deal. For instance, the Lakers may have to trade Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell to bring Brandon Ingram into the team. Anyway, the Lakers are already in talks with Dallas Mavericks about a trade that would help them build a super team. But if it does not work out, then the Ingram trade can be a worthy choice.

The Lakers also have their eyes on another player named Robert Covington. He is another power forward but not as young as Ingram. Since 2022 Covington has been playing for Los Angeles Clippers. But he is a bit under-used by the Clippers. Hence, the question is, can the Lakers trade Mo Bamba to their city rivals for Robert Covington? Anyway, the Clippers are not using Covington anyway. Hence, the 32-year-old forward may find some use in the Lakers. He is pretty good at floor spacing. On the other hand, Bamba is young and a pretty good floor spacer as well. Hence, the Clippers might agree with that deal.
