Not only is Anthony Davis in an incredible touch as individual performances, but with the team also, he is doing extremely well. After his return from injury, AD has led the Lakers exceedingly well in the absence of LeBron James. The Lakers squad was lingering at the bottom of the table when the Brow picked them up to the play-in slots. Apparently, they were the 11th seed when AD rescued them. Although he also got great help from players like D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and so on. But Anthony Davis is currently averaging 26.5 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks, which is beyond great.
This makes him undoubtedly the best of the West at present. But he did not have a great season, to begin with. First, AD started the campaign with the baggage of what happened last season. He could not help the Lakers qualify for the postseason in the absence of James. Later, if that was not enough, Davis got injured back last December due to stress and missed twenty games on the trot. Seemingly, the season was not going great for either Anthony Davis or the Lakers. But he changed everything after he came back to the lineup.
Anthony Davis Rising Up On The Scoring List
With great performances come incredible feats. Currently, Anthony Davis is on his way to the top, inching closer to the top 100 all-time scorers in NBA. The Lakers already have the leading scorer on their roster, LeBron James. And if that was not enough, then they have got the eight-time All-Star scoring even better in recent times. AD was the 122nd on the scoring list before the game against the Clippers with 15,794 points. AD was behind the 121st on the list, Chauncey Billups, an NBA champion, by only nine points.

But against the Clippers, Anthony Davis scored 17 points. Hence, AD is the current 121st on the list. The next player to beat to get to the 120th rank would be Jack Twyman, who has accumulated 15,840 points. Right now, Anthony Davis is 30 years old at the moment. But the way he is playing and his average say that by the time he finishes, he will get to the top 50 scorers of all time. Other than this current season Anthony Davis has reached a career average of 24.0 points per game.
Lakers May Not Make The Playoffs Directly
Anthony Davis once had been the first overall pick in NBA. He is playing in his 11th season at the moment and is currently playing the fourth season for the Lakers. Although with the Lakers, AD won an NBA championship back in 2020, beating the Heat in the finals. However, since then, the Lakers squad has had a tough outing, unable to find another title. Anthony Davis also expressed his wish to help the Lakers get the coveted 18th title. Currently, the Lakers are about to make the postseason in 2023.
But it does not look like the Lakers will make the playoffs directly. It became a lot harder after they lost to the city rivals, and now they are stuck at no. 7. With the win, the Clippers have risen to the 5th seed, and the Warriors are the 6th. Both these teams have got a better win-loss ratio than the Lakers with 42-38. The Lakers, at the moment, have a record of .513 with a 41-39 ratio. The Lakers and the Pelicans have the same record, fighting for the 7th seed.
