The New York Yankees is suiting Jazz Chisholm Jr as he has been on a hot run since being traded at the mid-season deadline. Despite missing 10 days with a UCL injury, Jazz has been on fire and delivered a sensational walk a hit in Wednesday’s rubber game against the Kansas City Royals. The game went into extra innings, and with scores tied 3-3, Luke Weaver got out of the game to pitch a scoreless inning. Then, Juan Soto’s ground hit allowed ghost runner Jon Berti to secure first base. Aaron Judge’s intentional walk led to Jazz Chisholm Jr’s arrival on the plate. While Jazz was just trying to get on the base, his straight drive was stopped by shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.

However, Witt’s throw was off target, which helped Berti to score. The New York Yankees surrounded Jazz Chisholm Jr to celebrate the victory before Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe soaked him in cold water. That being said, the newest recruit was elated to witness the atmosphere of the Yankee Stadium. He mentioned how, following Tommy Kahnle’s strikeout in the eighth inning, the crowd erupted so loud that it almost felt like a playoff game. “I just was wide-eyed. I was like, oh, this is sick. It ain’t even October yet. I can’t wait,” Chisholm said. The slugger added that the Yankees won’t stop grinding until they get that championship ring, and he is looking forward to playing his first playoff as a Yankee. With that series victory, the Bronx Bombers now own a 1.5-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles to reclaim AL-East division supremacy.
