20-year-old outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez signed a record bonus deal with the New York Yankees back in 2019. At a tender teenage age, the prospect earned high praises and was coined the nickname “The Martian” owing to his offensive prowess. He was ranked no.2 prospect in the Yanks farm system, only second to Spencer Jones.

Jasson Dominguez built a lot of hype around him by rising to the minor league ranks. Off lately, the prospect got promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, which pushed him a step forward to the ultimate major league debut. However, Dominguez’s starts aligned to earn him call up in this season itself. And the prospect didn’t fail to leave his mark.

An underwhelming season encouraged the New York Yankees to hand out chances to hyped minor-league prospects. Subsequently, Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells made their MLB debuts on Friday against the Houston Astros. The hype around Dominguez remained sky-high, and the prospect lived up to every ounce of it. He homered in his very first major league at-bat, that too against future Hall of Famer pitcher Justin Verlander. Jasson’s run around the bases screamed confidence and fearlessness. However, the dream run had just begun. During the series finale against the Astros, Dominguez smoked a 386-feet two-run home run over the other side of the field. The switch hitter rounded the bases to earn the Yanks a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

With that, Jasson Dominguez has entered an elite list of Yankee players. As per Sarah Langs of MLB.com, Dominguez is only the fourth player in franchise history who has hit home runs in two of their first three career games. Captain Aaron Judge was the last to achieve the feat in 2016. The rest of the list includes Joe Lefebvre and Yogi Berra. Certainly, the 20-year-old has lived up to the hype and aced his debut. His contribution of a two-run long shot and as many RBIs on Sunday helped the Yankees secure a series sweep vs. the Astros. Moreover, the rookie has aced defensive duties in the center field as well. Now, the Martian is all set to return home to the Bronx to woo the home crowd.
