The Yankees added Jake Bauers to the roster to replace Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, suffered a mild hip strain in the aftermath of an awkward dive against the Twins. The injury aggravated, and the slugger had to miss three consecutive games. Moreover, the front office has not yet put a timeline on Judge’s return and will take a call on Monday after the MRI results come in.

There is a possibility that the captain might land up on a 10-day IL. However, nothing’s confirmed for now. Hence, to curb the loss, the Yankees called up outfielder Jake Bauers from the minor league. Jake had already been on standby and was a part of the taxi squad. The Yankees called him up and immediately handed over the debut cap. However, his debut stint did not last long and saw an unfortunate end.

Outfielder Jake Bauers lived the moment of his life when he made his debut in the pinstripes on Saturday. Jake received a major league promotion owing to an explosive stint in the Triple-A. Before coming into the big leagues, the outfielder had already hit nine homers and 20 RBIs with a batting average of .304 in the minors. Hence, when Aaron Judge made his way out of the lineup, Jake unanimously became the like-for-like replacement. However, the dream debut witnessed an anti-climax as a freak accident caused in the field forced Bauers to retire early from the game.

In the first inning against the Texas Rangers on Saturday, Jake Bauers made a run to left field to catch a flyball. He succeeded in his attempt as he took an acrobatic catch. However, in the process, the outfielder crashed his knee into the wall and was immediately pinned down to the ground. Jake whimpered in pain, and things did not look for the outfielder at all. However, after a lengthy delay, Bauers stood up and slowly made his way back to the dugout. Further, the Yankees sent him for an MRI scan, and it reportedly came back positive. The skipper, Aaron Boone, confirmed that Jake’s knee had avoided any major damage and hence would skip the IL stint for now. There’s still some swelling on the knee which needs time to heal. Hence, the Yankees front office would take a final call on Monday and decide whether or not Jake Bauers should still stay on the roster.

While the Yankees breathed a sigh of relief as Jake Bauers’ MRI reports came back positive, the fans remain divided. Some believe that the outfielder is not a key part of the line, and him being or not being on the roster does not really make a difference. However, a few fans did take the news in a positive light.

Nevertheless, Jake Bauers’ injury update is certainly positive news for the Yankees. Amid incessant injury concerns, any hitter escaping a stint on IL is good news for the Yankees. Monday is the D-day for both Jake and Aaron Judge, as their fate hangs in the balance. After evaluating both the outfielder’s statuses on Monday, the front office would conclude whether or not they require some time on IL.
