The New York Yankees braved a low-magnitude earthquake to host the Toronto Blue Jays at the Yankee Stadium for the season’s first home game on Friday. However, the euphoria of opening day was short-lived as the Bronx Bombers went 3-0 to record their first shutout home opener loss since 1967.

Regardless, Yankees home opening day starter Marcus Stroman offered fans something to cheer about. He posted six shutout innings before the bullpen went out to allow three runs. However, at the end of the day, it was a dreamy night with Long Island Native Stroman, who opened up on his surreal experience post-game.

A Long Island Native and hardcore Yankee fan, Marcus Stroman fulfilled his childhood dream of starting on New York Yankees opening day on Friday. Stroman walked out to a sea of fans rooting for him as he took the mound on the fateful day. The pitcher lived up to his pre-season promise of making an impact and finished with six shutout innings. He allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six batters before walking out to a standing ovation. Expressing his thoughts on the dreamy debut, Stroman confessed to feeling anxious leading upto the home opener. He apparently couldn’t eat or sleep the night before. But was happy overall to perform and give fans a reason to smile and cheer.

Having been born and raised on Long Island, Marcus Stroman always dreamt of pitching on the Yankee’s opening day. “A dream come true for me. It was everything and more it lived up to be,” said Stroman. The pitcher further described his experience of pitching in the Yankee Stadium as surreal and revealed how being able to compete in pinstripes for the New York Yankees, the pinnacle of the sport, means more than the world to him. Not only that, the pitcher mentioned fans and expressed gratitude for the energy. He is someone who thrives under the spotlight, and the fans’ cheers and loud reception helped him perform better. “I’m very grateful and thankful for the home crowd. The energy was incredible,” added Stroman. While it was a perfect day for Marcus Stroman, the Yankees wasted his strong start to end up with a 3-0 loss.

In an anti-climax moment, the New York Yankees went 3-0 in the home opener against Toronto Blue Jays. With anticipation surrounding the opening day building up, the Yanks were expected to put forth a good show given their 6-1 record into the season thus far. However, the offense didn’t come through to support a strong start from Marcus Stroman.

Moreover, to further add to the misery, the New York Yankees unlocked an unwanted record. The 3-0 loss happened to be the Bronx Bombers first ever shut out loss in home opener since 1967. Needless to say, the home fans expect a lot better from the team who have been 6-1 in this tournament so far.
