Lewis Hamilton finally shed the burden of not winning a race. It had been a long wait for the Briton, who had gone through a difficult period lasting about 945 days. Hamilton put up a masterclass in the British Grand Prix, passing everyone on a wet track.

While the triumph was sweet as nectar, it may leave Hamilton with many stinging worries. Until now, Hamilton has struggled to compete owing to the poor W15. However, the Mercedes team has emerged as a new power to be reckoned with since they are the only team, aside from Red Bull, to win two straight races in the last year. Thus, this might make the victory ‘bittersweet,’ as his future team appears to be in reverse gear.

The Mercedes squad is resurging, while Ferrari appears to have lost its allure. The team putting up a fight with Red Bull now seems weak. Even during the British Grand Prix, the Prancing Horses were the fourth-fastest team, with Charles Leclerc having to lap on medium tires. Furthermore, the SF24 is experiencing certain balancing challenges, leading to consequences. As a result, while Silverstone GP gave Hamilton reason to rejoice, it may also push him to reassess his decision.

However, when asked about the current scenario, Lewis Hamilton expressed no regrets about his decision to leave Mercedes for a rival team. Reflecting on the season, he acknowledged that at the beginning, the team’s car wasn’t competitive enough to challenge Red Bull or secure wins, which made the prospect of leaving bittersweet. However, as the season progressed, the team significantly improved the car, making it more comfortable and competitive. This collective effort and progress allowed Hamilton to leave on a high note rather than a low.

Further, he emphasized that while there is still a long way to go, the car is not yet the fastest on the grid. Nonetheless, he remains optimistic. With upcoming upgrades, Hamilton believes the team will be in an even stronger position to compete at the front consistently. This positive outlook highlights his appreciation for the team’s hard work and achievements throughout the season.
