Is Josh Donaldson Retiring From The Yankees? Vows To Make A Difference This Year Before Leaving

Josh Donaldson, the third baseman for the New York Yankees, is confident of making a bounce back this season after an awful last year.

The New York Yankees acquired baseman Josh Donaldson from Minnesota Twins via a trade in the middle of the 2022 season. Josh, who’s had a long and successful career in MLB, came in with a lot of expectations and sadly failed to live up to them. He recorded his lowest career numbers as he batted at .222 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs in total.

However, this season, the under-fire baseman is all set to make a difference. Despite trade rumors, Josh Donaldson said he is here to stay and compete at the highest level. Moreover, Josh also revealed his retirement plans as he turned 37 last year. On the other hand, the Yankees look set to include Josh in the starting roster at the third base during the 2023 MLB season inaugural game.

He won the American League MVP award in 2015 and has been named to three All-Star teams. Despite his success, Donaldson has had to overcome numerous obstacles throughout his career. He has battled injuries and faced criticism from fans who have questioned his abilities and his worth as a player.

Particularly last season, Josh Donaldson played entirely different from his usual self after arriving in New York. However, the baseman has sent out a very strong message for the fans as he stated that he would have retired happily if he didn’t feel he had it in him to contribute to the team. Josh further added he is not here to play just for the sake of it but to win games for his teams. Moreover, Donaldson is determined to give it all he has this season to help the Yankees win the world series title. And coming back to his retirement, he’s still got a couple of years left in him.
