All this pressure is piling up on the team as they continue to struggle to stay competitive. That being said, general manager Brian Cashman paid a visit to the team in Tampa to stake stock of the situation. And also opened up on the team’s recent fall from grace for the first time.
Brian Cashman Concerned Yet Optimistic On Yankees’ Future In The Season
The New York Yankees are not winning after breaking through the gates earlier this season, and the recent slump has made the fans and critics equally worried. Brian Cashman, the longest-serving general manager, visited the team in Tampa during their recent series against the Rays. Cashman was in town for the draft meeting. However, he also took stock of the team’s situation and had a word with manager Aaron Boone and other members of the leadership group. Cashman spoke to the media afterward and shed light on the club’s losing streak. “Man, it’s just been a struggle, obviously. We’re certainly as rough as they come right now,” Cashman said.
The general manager added that the Yankees appear to have flipped a switch, and the avalanche of losses is piling up. They quickly landed on the other side of things after a strong and sudden change in dynamics, which surely left the team uncomfortable. Additionally, as a GM, Brian Cashman says being concerned is his job. However, he has complete faith in the team to get over the setback and come out better in the second half. “Looking forward to us getting through it sooner than later, but it’s gone on certainly long enough,” Cashman added. Also, Cashman revealed that he hasn’t spoken to the team directly as skipper Aaron Boone is handling that part of the job to the best of his capacity. He does not feel the need to intervene just yet and allow Boone that space to find his way through.
Cashman Opens Up On Trade Plans
Meanwhile, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed that the front office will go into the trade deadline with an open minded approach. They are evaluating their options and remain in constant touch with the clubs, their managers, scouts and many other persons of interest. The idea is to identify the weakness and improve the roster accordingly to eradicate that weakness.
Also, Brian Cashman is counting on the injured guys to recover soon and fall back on the roster to help the team snap out of the losing streak. Hence, when the deadline approaches closer, Cashman is hopeful that the New York Yankees will take the right call by the end of the month and move the right pieces to boost the club’s championship aspirations.
