The Golden State Warriors may say goodbye to Klay Thompson this offseason. This farewell might be hard to accept for some faithful fans of the Dubs Dynasty. After all, the veteran shooting guard is a franchise icon. He won four NBA Championships with the team representing the Bay Area. Along with his Splash Bro, Stephen Curry, the sharpshooter, revolutionized the three-point shooting. Fans credit this duo and the Dynasty for changing the game forever. Moreover, the Dub Nation would want the Splash Brothers to win more championships together before they catch up with Father Time.

However, the last season saw Klay Thompson come off his worst average since the 2012-2013 season. Clearly, he has not been in his prime anymore. A lot of injury issues really messed up his consistency. But does that mean he is not good enough to be part of the GSW anymore? In the offseason, Klay will be an unrestricted free agent. Moreover, the rumours suggest Thompson might sign with the Orlando Magic in free agency. However, Steve Kerr said he wants the sharpshooter to stay with the Warriors.

Recently, in an interview on The Jim Rome Show, the Dubs coach mentioned that there is a possibility of Klay Thompson not coming back to GSW. Steve Kerr feels that is how things work in any professional sport, including the NBA. There are all these difficult moments, Kerr thinks, that they have to just deal with. Moreover, the Warrior’s head coach said, “You know, money and contracts play crucial roles, and then there is ‘Respect’, which can make the situation uncomfortable.” But Kerr believes Klay Thompson has been an integral part of the Dubs Dynasty. Not just the fact that he is a four-time champion with the Warriors but also he has a deep connection with the Bay Area.

Moreover, Steve Kerr said that the shooting guard has a deep connection with the city, the franchise, and especially his teammates. Adding to that, the head coach noted that the whole team wants him (Thompson) back desperately, “We absolutely want him back, after all he is Klay Thompson.” Moreover, Kerr said that they would have conversations at first, and then the veteran shooting guard could make “Whatever” decisions he wants. Now, the question is if Klay wants to stay with GSW. Moreover, does the Warriors front office plan to keep him, and if so, how much are they willing to offer?

Recently, on the YouTube channel of the Golden State Warriors, Mike Dunleavy seemed to say, “Yes, we do want him back.” The general manager hopes to have the sharpshooter back in the team. But he would like to keep the discussions between the organization and Klay “In-house” as long as he can. Dunleavy knows the importance of being reasonable and rational.

However, he said regarding Klay Thompson who means so much to the franchise and its fans that it will be hard to keep emotions away from it. Moreover, the general manager said the most important thing to do now is to see what’s right for the franchise and the player at present. That’s what will factor in the decision-making.
