Toto Wolff has been the team principal of the Mercedes F1 team since 2013 and has been highly successful with the team. In fact, Wolff is the most successful team principal in Formula One. From 2014 to 2021, Mercedes won eight consecutive constructor titles plus seven driver’s world championships. It is evident to everyone that Toto Wolff is very competitive, and he does not want to stop there.

On top of that, the Mercedes boss has a very close friendship with the star driver, Lewis Hamilton. Hence, the F1 team has become a family of the Austrian billionaire executive. That’s why Wolff is very emotionally connected with the team’s success and failure. Apparently, Mercedes could have continued on their path of success if it was not for the poor W13 car last year. Also, the W14 car this year is not helping them too much. Due to the emotional connection, the Mercedes boss finds it hard to stay cool sometimes.

The Mercedes boss is waiting for more championship wins, either constructors or drivers. He wants to see his friend Lewis Hamilton win another championship to become the ultimate F1 driver. Hamilton is also waiting to win his ultimate eighth title. But at present, the seven-time champion driver has been winless for one and a half years. Apparently, the team hasn’t won a single race so far since last year. Mercedes’ last victory came at the Brazilian Grand Prix last season. It was the young 25-year-old George Russell who debuted for Mercedes last season and won his maiden Grand Prix in Sao Paolo, Brazil. But the troubles for the team are not yet over, as they are still looking for their first victory this season. However, the Mercedes boss said the team will introduce new upgrades in the upcoming races.

Meanwhile, Toto Wolff recently revealed why he loses his cool sometimes. The fans had seen the wrath of the boss back in the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when he smashed his headphone on the table. The Mercedes boss explained that he is very emotionally involved with his team, and when he sees someone harm his team, he gets mad. And that is why the team principal of the Brackley team is not apologetic about his emotional outbursts as he tries to stay as authentic as possible. He has always been very emotional as an adolescent as well, according to Wolff. In a recent interview with Sky Sports regarding the new F1 documentary Secrets Of Success, Naseer Hussain asked Christian Horner and Toto Wolff about their relationship.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner recently mentioned that he has a lot of respect for Toto Wolff, but underneath, they are always competitors. In the same tone, Wolff replied, “Horner is a good team manager. However, we’ve different personalities and values in our respective organizations. But he is indeed successful.” Surprisingly, Horner also discussed Wolff’s headphone-breaking incident, saying, “I would never do that. He sure was under a lot of pressure. The title battle reached its climax. Hence, the pressure was building. But if I were in his place, I would have broken the headphone mentally but not physically.” According to the Red Bull principal, if a team principal shows pressure, the whole team will feel pressure as it flows from the top.
