Aaron Judge channelled his inner alien into logging a barrel of home runs this season. Following a remarkable 20-game stretch in May, Judge extended his dream run in June and August before hitting an uncharacteristic slump that concerned the New York Yankees and its fans alike.

The New York Yankees captain was on pace to surpass his astonishing 62-home run all-time high record at some point in his season. However, the past couple of weeks humbled Aaron Judge in a true sense. Amid a concerning drought, former Yankee hitting coach Sean Casey threw his weight behind Judge to state how the slump has come at the right time.

Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees’ star slugger, has been experiencing the longest home run drought of his career, a surprising development for a player known for his prodigious power at the plate. This unusual dry spell has drawn the attention of fans, analysts, and former coaches alike, with many speculating on the reasons behind Judge’s struggles. Judge, who’s still leading MLB in season home run tally with 51 long hits, hasn’t hit a home run in the last 14 games. This is his longest dry spell since 2019. Not only that, but the captain’s pursuit of an all-time high league record is also in danger. However, amid concerns, former Yankee hitting coach Sean Casey weighed in on the matter.

The ex-coach, who worked closely with Judge last year with the Yankees, expressed sympathy for the outfielder’s current struggles. Sean Casey explained that at some point this season, Aaron Judge almost appeared as an alien from a different planet. But this dry spell proves how he is also a human and bound to hit a slump at some point. However, Casey feels the drought has come at the right time for the New York Yankees. It’s because he believes when Judge gets hot, it’s improbable to stop him. And the Bronx Bombers need him to remain hot in the playoffs. If that costs them the final few games of the September stretch, it’s worth the wait. “I think this is a perfect time for him to kind of have a little bit of dull. Right into the postseason, that’s where you want them hot,” Casey said on his Mayor’s office podcast.

After weeks of lackluster performances, Aaron Judge broke his silence on the career longest home run drought that has now extended to 16 games. However, Judge is unmoved by the outside noise as he deemed the setback a part of baseball. “I’m feeling fine and the results will be there,” he said.

Notably, Aaron Judge hit a similar slump early into the season in April when he hit .178 with a .674 OPS through 123 plate appearances. But once he hit a home run on April 27, he ended up getting 50 more of them in the next 102 games stretch. Hence, the fans have nothing to worry about the captain as he still is the best slugger in MLB.
