Stephen Curry 21 2024

Stephen Curry has been part of the Golden State Warriors for 15 years at this point. He has not played for any other team in the NBA so far. That was the case with his ‘Splash Brother’ Klay Thompson, who spent 13 years with the Dubs organization. But the veteran shooting guard decided to part ways this offseason. He moved to the Dallas Mavericks for a three-year contract worth $50 million. It was a big shock for the Dub Nation to let one of their franchise icons go like that. Klay did not have a great season in the 2023-2024 edition.

Moreover, fans blamed him for the team’s failure to make the playoffs last time. He had a scoreless night against the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament. That was not the way Thompson would have wanted his Warriors days to end. But the Dubs will have to move on since the departure of Thompson. However, the GSW is not ready to part ways with their talisman Stephen Curry any time soon. Lately, the team’s GM mentioned that he feels Curry will be a Warrior for life.

Stephen Curry will earn $59.6 million in the final year of his current contract with the Golden State Warriors. Moreover, he is eligible to sign an extension worth $62.6 million for a year this summer. But then he can also wait for the next offseason. Then, he will be eligible for a contract extension worth $130 million for another two years. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the general manager of the GSW mentioned that Steph can get whatever he wants. On Friday, during a news conference, Mike Dunleavy Jr. said that he is pretty confident about Stephen Curry staying “A Warrior for life.” It seems like the Dubs organization is giving Curry the absolute freedom to do whatever he wants. Apparently, the three-point King feels the same way as the Warriors GM.

Previously this week, in an interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Steph mentioned that it is quite clear to him that he wants to remain “A Warrior for life.” Adding to that, Curry mentioned that he wants to win “Plain and simple.” That has always been his goal. But Curry also mentioned that there is no satisfaction on signing a big contract and just riding it out. Moreover, the Dub Nation will depend on Curry and the veteran forward Draymond Green to help the team win more titles in the future.

It was a big shock to know that Klay is looking for a fresh start elsewhere. However, the Dubs organization is not losing hope as they are trying to build the best supporting cast around Stephen Curry. They believe in the three-point King that he can lead the team to win more titles. However, if that happens, Curry will have to do that without his ‘Splash Bro.’ Now, who are the guys that can replace Thompson at the Warriors roster?

Lately, this offseason, the Dubs have acquired Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield, and also De’Anthony Melton. This way, the Warriors are trying to improve their shooting and defense. Moreover, they are trying to extend the contracts of Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. Perhaps these are the first few steps to convince Curry to stay as a Warrior for the rest of his career.
