Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and American Tennis player Serena Williams are undoubtedly one of the finest in the history of their respective sports. And it is as they say, \’Greatness Recognize Greatness.\’ Recently, as Serena Williams is eyeing winning the U.S. Open for a record seven times, the Lakers player sent his best wishes to Serena.

Serena Willaims began her U.S. Open, which is believed to be the last in her career. Meanwhile, athletes and players worldwide are sending their regards and well wishes to Serena to conclude her career on a high note. In the midst, the Akron Hammer also wished Serena good luck on Monday when she stepped onto the court to face Danka Kovinic in her first game of the season. 

   

The Lakers star took on to his social media handle to honor the tennis GOAT. In a Tweet praising Serena Williams\’ serve, LeBron wrote, \”Keep tha Serve going.\” James also addressed Serena as GOAT. In another message to Serena, James mentioned, \”You\’re a GOAT. What you\’ve done for the sport of tennis, what you\’ve done for women. What you\’ve done for the category of sport.\” The Lakers\’ star player further added that it had been an honor to watch Serena\’s journey, to watch her conquer all the goals. \”Win, lose or draw, it didn\’t matter. We all knew you were the greatest,\” King James added.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner performed admirably. In the first round, Serena upset Danka Kovini, with a hard-fought 6-3, 6-3 triumph in front of a star-studded audience. Now, Williams will play doubles with her sister Venus Williams in the second round. The US Open would be Serena Williams\’ last run before she declared her retirement from the sport. She didn\’t use the word \”retirement,\” instead using the phrase \”evolving from tennis.\”

The tennis great made five double faults in her first three service games as a result of persistent pressure placed on her serve. Before regaining her composure in the closing stages of the opening set, she even faced break points in each of them. Serena Williams scored 11 consecutive games to go up 5-3 and win the opening set in 55 minutes.

LeBron James wasn\’t the only athlete watching Monday\’s match. The US Open had planned a goodbye celebration for Williams regardless of the match\’s outcome. The competition\’s organizers also unveiled a video before the match. The video was in the glory of the most prevalent women\’s tennis player of the past two decades.
