Ever since Aaron Judge landed in IL, New York Yankees’ world turned upside down. Their offense collapsed, and the defense succumbed to pressure which collectively resulted in heavy losses. The major culprits of the fall were the team’s veteran batters, especially potent homer run hitter Giancarlo Stanton.
Giancarlo Stanton is probably the only hitter after Aaron Judge, who possesses the ability to hit towering home runs that too on a constant basis. Hence, he was tasked to fill in Judge’s shoes. However, coming from an injury, Stanton found it really hard to get back into the rhythm right away. His form tumbled to a new low until Sunday, when he contributed to the run tally for the first time in a while.
Giancarlo Stanton Hits RBI Vs. Rangers To End Prolonged Hitless Streak
When Giancarlo Stanton was reinstated from IL a few weeks ago, he was expected to cover up for Aaron Judge, who landed in IL the same time around. However, Stanton faced trouble finding his old rhythm since he was returning from a six-weeks absence. The pressure further added to his misery as his slump kept on worsening. Before heading into Sunday’s game against Texas Rangers, Stanton was hitting .109 with two homers, two RBIs, and 20 strikeouts in 61 plate appearances. Not only that, the DH’s hitless streak reached 22 at-bats.
Things change shortly after. He hit a line drive to left field and recorded an RBI to increase the Yankees lead to 5-3. This was the first time in a while that Giancarlo Stanton had contributed to the Yankees’ winning cause. Could it be the end of the form slump? Well, the batter doesn’t think so. After the game, Stanton spoke to reporters and said that he was working on getting better each day. While the hit was good for the game, there’s still a lot of work to be done. The DH feels that he is not doing what he is supposed to and the team’s expectations are not being met. Regardless, it’s a process, and he is confident of reaching the bar eventually. For what it’s worth, Stanton’s recent hit vs. Rangers could be viewed as a promising start. He just needs to capitalize this into something substantial.
Fans Praise Stanton And Other Yankee Batters For Offensive Explosion Vs. Rangers
The New York Yankees crushed Texas Rangers in Sunday’s rubber game. The offense came back from the dead to lead the charge. Harrison Bader set the stage with a perfect two-run double. Moreover, Giancarlo Stanton hit a crucial insurance run which sealed the win. With that, the Yankees took home a much-needed confidence-boosting series win.
Meanwhile, the Yankee fanbase rejoiced about the much-needed offensive resurgence. They took to Twitter to express their delight and excitement. The fan’s emotions are justified considering the extent to which the team’s offense has been struggling since Aaron Judge’s toe injury. The recent performance could be the beginning of a comeback that the Bombers desperately need at this moment.
