The New York Yankees cleared out their locker room after concluding the lost season over the weekend vs. the Royals. The atmosphere in the clubhouse, as one would imagine, was gloomy, as reported by Bob Klapisch of NJ Media. He talked to a few players, including Giancarlo Stanton, as they bid goodbye to one another for the final time this year.

As we all know, the year has been tough on the whole franchise, let alone a particular player. But as far as Giancarlo Stanton is concerned, he witnessed a steep decline, which came as a shock to many. He finished the season with an all-time career-low .191 batting average. But, at the same time, the slugger is hopeful of making things right in time for the 2024 season.

Giancarlo Stanton has a reputation for hitting the ball harder than anyone in the New York Yankees clubhouse, including Aaron Judge. He is a force to be reckoned with when in element. While the slugger has enjoyed limitless success throughout his career, the 2023 season proved to be an awful experience. In an injury-riddled season, Stanton struggled with consistency. His reaction time witnessed a dip along with his overall swing range. It seemed that he completely fell off the bandwagon. However, the slugger is not disheartened with the setback. As he cleared out his locker room, Stanton promised the fans of fixating things in 2024.

Speaking to Bob Klapisch of NJ Media, Giancarlo Stanton said he still believes he has what it takes to become a top hitter in the league. While it appears that he has lost his charm, it would take just one winter to regain everything he has lost. Stanton feels that he does not necessarily need to undergo major changes. Tweaking minor mechanics would do the job just right. “It’s only a few tweaks, as long as they’re the right tweaks,” clarified the Yankees hitter. He also emphasized the importance of timing, which has remained an issue this year. Having said that, Stanton, who is under Yankees contract till 2027, is confident of bouncing back in 2024 and intends to come out stronger and better than ever.

In other news, we finally have a credible word on the New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone’s future in the Bronx. As per Andy Martino of SNY, Boone is expected to return as the team’s manager in 2024. Martino elaborated, saying that the front office views the skipper as a part of the solution and definitely not a part of the problem.

Hal Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman want to skip the blame game and focus on solutions. Aaron Boone, for that matter, has done a fine job as the team’s skipper over the years. One bad season won’t reflect much on his storied resume. Thus, Boone will definitely see the end of his contract. However, the possibility of an extension still remains uncertain.
