George Russell, the promising talent of the Silver Arrows, holds his countryman cum teammate, Lewis Hamilton, in high regard. Many people believe that the reason behind Russell’s impressive performance with the W13 car last season was his three years of experience with the Williams F1 team. But Russell has credited his quality time with Hamilton as the biggest reason. The 24-year-old looks up to the 38-year-old seven-time champ he has got as his teammate, Lewis Hamilton. Russell believes experience counts, and Hamilton is currently the most experienced after Fernando Alonso in the F1 grid.

According to George Russell, “Money can’t buy experience.” He feels like being there with Lewis in the garage, and the engineer’s office is helping him gain a few years of experience.  The admiration Russell has for Lewis Hamilton is not one-sided. Hamilton also said this a few times when asked about Russell; he mentioned Russell’s first year with the Silver Arrows has been very impressive. He added that it also has been super easy for Russell because he was used to this Mercedes setup even when he was part of Williams.

George Russell’s History With Williams

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton

People crediting his time at Williams for his performance last season should know that he did not see much success over there. Rather had a poor outing in case of performances are concerned. George Russell only won a mere sixteen points in three years with Williams. After winning the F2 tournament in 2018, the next year, he joined Williams. The Williams cars did not prove to be quite fruitful for the 2018 F2 champion back in 2021.

So it’s quite natural for George Russell to feel that time with Hamilton has helped him better. Time will only tell if their partnership brings another title for the Brackley-based team. Last year the seven-time champ experienced the worst season of his career as he did not win a single race. At the same time, Russell won the only race for the Silver Arrows at the Brazil Grand Prix.

What Does The Future Of The Silver Arrows Look Like?

A lot of talks and discussions are going on in the media about George Russell and Lewis Hamilton’s partnership. For instance, what if the 24-year-old gives the seven-time champ a tough challenge to win his eighth and the ultimate defining championship? At the age of 38, Hamilton is standing in the twilight years of his career. On the other hand, Russell, at 24, is just beginning to blossom.

Also, the reports on the W14 cars are not sounding very promising. There is a possibility that the Silver Arrows may face a similar outcome as in the last season. If they are not totally ready with their new W14 cars. The vehicle needs to be ready otherwise, they may have to wait for the 2024 season to win a title again. But if the conditions of the W14 cars prove to be much better than that of their predecessors (W13 vehicles). Then there can be a chance for the Silver Arrows as they have the best drivers in their team in the upcoming 2023 season. Certainly, the eyes will be on Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
