The Red Bull triple champion was adamant about winning the silverware during the high-voltage Hungary GP. Thus, he kept pushing his limit, putting Lewis Hamilton under pressure. However, the Briton combined his experience with defensive tactics to hold on to the third spot. Meanwhile, on lap 63, the Dutchman made a desperate attempt to dive into the Mercedes space. However, Hamilton tried to block the move, and Verstappen’s attempt backfired. The wheels collided, and the RB20 was launched into the sky, jumping in mid-air. Thus, the RBR racer has to settle with teh fifth spot, as he yet again failed to clinch the victory.
After the Hungary GP, Lewis Hamilton subtly addressed the incident involving Max Verstappen. While speaking to reporters, Hamilton glanced at second-placed Lando Norris, who responded with a smile and a playful ‘mic drop’ gesture.
The seven-time world champion recounted the incident, noting that he had to adjust his position to defend against Verstappen while overtaking a backmarker. Further, he described how he had left enough space on the inside, but Verstappen locked up and took a different trajectory, resulting in a collision. Hamilton perceived this as a racing incident, acknowledging that such mistakes can happen and that there should be no hostility from his perspective. However, he anticipated that Verstappen might view the situation differently.

During the post-race notebook session on Sky Sports, Ted Kravitz discussed the controversy surrounding the incident involving Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. He noted that while Red Bull and some others labeled the situation as a racing incident, many observers attributed fault to Verstappen.
The F1 pundit pointed out that Verstappen had outbraked himself and would have gone off-track if Hamilton had not been present. According to Kravitz, Hamilton did not make an aggressive move; instead, he was already in position, and Verstappen’s attempt to overtake resulted in contact with Hamilton’s wheel.
