The New York Yankees have been suffering a lot of injuries this season. These injuries have cost them the current season. They are on the verge of facing an elimination before the playoffs. It will be for the first time since 2016, when the Bronx Bombers did not make the postseason. But the woes of the Yankees continue as the Injured List keeps getting longer.

However, Aaron Boone believes that the NY side will keep fighting till the end. Surprisingly enough, in this troubled time with injuries, there is news about a Yankees player who has returned from injury. Frankie Montas was out of the entire season with a shoulder injury. But he was all set to return on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Yankees pitcher resumed for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. Moreover, the New York Post’s Greg Joyce shared the information on Saturday on social media. According to Joyce, the Yankees manager mentioned that Frankie Montas would pitch an inning for SWB on Sunday as he begins his Triple-A stint. Due to a shoulder injury, Montas was out of the game for a long time, and people thought he wouldn’t play any more games this season. Hence, the news certainly came as a surprise. Even if he doesn’t play for the NY side this season, it will indeed boost his confidence for the next season.

Moreover, Frankie Montas is heading toward free agency this winter. Hence, it is essential that the player from the Dominican Republic shows his fitness for the teams interested in signing him, even for the Bronx Bombers. In the previous year, at the trade deadline, the Yankees acquired Frankie Montas from the Oakland Athletics. Since then, Montas had a 6.35 ERA and went just 1-3. If he does not pitch anymore for the Yankees this season, he is going to end up throwing only 39.2 innings for the NY Side. Moreover, for the Athletic, Frankie Montas was sixth in 2021’s Cy Young Voting. He has a lifetime 3.90 ERA with 36-35.

On the other hand, the Yankees manager is currently looking for someone who can help him with finer bullpen points. Moreover, MLB insider Jon Heyman suggests Joe Torre would be perfect for Aaron Booner as a help with bullpen points. Torre can help Boone exactly like what Don Zimmer did for him once, feels Jon Heyman. But the problem is Torre is 83 and also overqualified for the job.

Aaron Boone still feels like a caretaker rather than a master strategist, even after six years in the business. Surprisingly enough, both the Yankees and their rivals, the Boston Red Sox, are lingering at the bottom of the AL East. However, the Bronx Bombers have a better record than their rivals this season. Currently, the NY side is 76-74 (.507). On the other hand, the Red Sox is 74-76 (.493). However, Aaron Boone’s side will need a miracle to make the postseason.
