The days of misery are finally over for the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. The 39-year-old ended the drought of not winning a race in front of his home crowd. The champion racer was in a rut for almost two years as he could not perform on the biggest F1 stage. However, everything finally came together on an electrifying rain-studded eve, where Hamilton was smeared in champagne and emotions.

The Briton ended a 945-day curse, winning his first race in the ground effect era. Moreover, he rewrote the history books by breaking several records. He now has the most victories in Silverstone (9) and the most seasons with a win (16). Thus, the starlet was filled with emotions and hugged his father after the race. However, the F1 pundit was unhappy with the broadcasters for invading the privacy of the family members.

The iconic moment when Hamilton crossed the finish line after 945 days would be etched in every F1 fan’s memory. Perhaps there wouldn’t have been a better circuit than the Silverstone for this feat. Although Hamilton didn’t have a great start to the weekend, he was quick to adapt and improve. Later, during the showdown, he committed fewer mistakes than others on a wet track, sailing over the victory line. After the race, the Briton skedaddled towards his father, Anthony Hamilton, with tears of joy rolling out of his eyes. Later, he was asked to recount the brief conversation between the father-son duo, and Hamilton recalled that his father had told him, ‘he really needed that win.’ The seven-time world champion affirmed his agreement.

However, as the father-son shared a sentimental moment, the broadcasters had a mic near Anthony, trying to capture the heartwarming moment. While this is commonplace within the F1 fraternity, some netizens were displeased by this move. The netizens wanted Hamilton to enjoy the victory with his family without any camera or mic. Further, F1 pundit Katun Chandok also criticized the move, expressing his displeasure through his Twitter account. He said that sometimes, the family should be left alone as they have the right to enjoy the moment in private.

Further, he opened up about the tough days since 2021 when he felt ‘he isn’t good enough.’ Moreover, he started doubting his comeback and even considered retiring from the sport. However, this victory has re-fueled his enthusiasm as he looks forward to winning more races.
