The upcoming off-season will remain one of the most active ones, especially for the New York Yankees. They are looking to fall back on the World Series contention and will seek reinforcements to strengthen the roster. As it stands, the Yanks do not need to undergo a complete roster overhaul.

With better health and minor changes, the Yankees should be able to start as favorites in the 2024 season. Having said that, the shopping list for the free agency will certainly contain a young outfielder and a left-handed hitter. Amid this, an MLB analyst proposed a blockbuster trade for the Bombers through which they can kill both targets with a single bullet.

After an appalling 2023 season, expect the New York Yankees to pull off wild things during the upcoming off-season. Days after the team wrapped up the awful season, the trade market is already filled with multiple rumors. A lot of players have been linked to the team, but a recent deal proposed by Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report will top the list. Zachary says the Bombers need a young outfielder and a left-handed hitter to enhance the lineup. However, if the team is brave enough, a single player has the capability of resolving both these issues. Rymer linked San Diego Padres superstar Juan Soto to Yanks in a blockbuster deal.

The analyst believes the Padres are no different than the Yankees in terms of performance this year. Moreover, the former even opted to sell during the trade deadline, which exposed their insecurity. Thus, Zachary believes that this trade seems more realistic. In the proposed deal, the Yanks would acquire 24-year-old star OF Juan Soto, whereas the Padres would get top prospects OF Spencer Jones and RHP Chase Hampton. Soto is just 24 and has already made a name for himself. He is lefty and has a career average of .284. In the past six years, he collected 160 homers and 483 RBIs with a .946 OPS. While the asking price is high, Soto has the potential to secure the long-term future of the Yanks. He could become the next Aaron Judge with proper guidance and platform. Ultimately, it’s a high-risk risk, high-risk reward deal that could fruit unimaginable results in the future.

Yanks To Reunite With Pitcher Jordan Montgomery?

Montgomery has a 3.35 ERA over 27 starts with the Cardinals since being traded last August, preparing to face the Yankees over the weekend in St. Louis.AP

Last season, the New York Yankees missed a trick by trading away starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery to the Cardinals in exchange for OF Harrison Bader. As it stands, the deal didn’t turn out that great for the Yanks, as they parted ways with Bader in just one season. On the other hand, Montgomery went on to excel with the Cardinals and Texas this year.

However, there is a possibility of a reunion, believes John Harper of SNY. He says that if the Yankees get Cody Bellinger or Juan Soto, they are unlikely to go for another long-term investment in Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But they still need a strong starter for the rotation. So, is Jordan Montgomery an option? Definitely, believes Harper. Jordan is 30 and just finished the season with a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts. He is lefty and will fit perfectly behind Carlos Rodon in the five-man rotation for the 2024 season.
