The New York Yankees have not made it an easy and happy decade for their fans. It has been over ten years, and they have not been to the World Series, let alone win one. This year, they could not make the postseason. But even in the past few years, the team made it to the postseason, albeit could not go very far. That’s the reason why the front office wanted to make significant changes this offseason. Initially, they planned to acquire Juan Soto, Cody Bellinger, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

That would make this offseason a very successful one for the NY franchise. Fans believe if the Yankees were the same old Evil Empire, they would acquire all these players, and it would be just a piece of cake for them. But times have changed drastically, and they are not the most dominating team in the league anymore. They failed to buy the “Babe Ruth of the 21st century,” Shohei Ohtani. But what annoyed the fans even more was the failure to land Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

What the fans would like to ask the team is how they missed the chance to land Yamamoto. The Yankees were the top contenders to sign the Japanese sensation. But what went wrong? The Los Angeles Dodgers got both Ohtani and Yamamoto. This LA franchise has really turned out to be the new Evil Empire. They spared no expense to make sure the team had enough superstars to be a top contender. Now, Yamamoto joins his countryman, Mookie Betts, and so on. Perhaps they will go on to win a few World Series as well. Only time will tell. But why the Yankees could not match the Dodger’s offer of $325 million?

They initially offered a pretty good deal of $300 million in 10 years. Really, that was the best they could offer? Only if the Yankees had offered a little more cash and a few more years they could have the righty Japanese ace pitcher. That’s what pisses the fans even more. Clearly, the Dodgers have a much more impressive roster than the Yankees. Fans can debate about a roster with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Gerrit Cole, and on the other hand, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts.

Fans Can Only Look Back In The Past With Fond Memories

The last time the Bronx Bombers did not make the postseason was in 2016. But from 2016 to last year, the Pinstripes have not been that impressive either. Anyway, the fans can only celebrate the history of the old Evil Empire and its legacy in North American Sports. They have won an incredible, and, a record number of 27 World Series.

It was 2009 when the Yankees Nation saw the team win a World Series for the last time. Since the time Derek Jeter retired, the Bronx Bombers have been through a downward trajectory in terms of winning and achievements. In 2023, the Yankees had their worst season in the last thirty years. They finished with an 82-80 record. It has been a tremendous shame for the Yankees Faithful.
