Scuderia Ferrari, once a synonyms to Formula 1, fell off the pecking order following multiple regulations overhaul. After a failure to decode 2021 ground effects regulation changes, Mattia Binotto was relieved of his duties as team principal as Fred Vasseur succeeded Mattia in 2023.
Fred Vasseur meant business from day 1 as he vowed to lead Ferrari to it’s lost glory and the only way to do that was to build a dream superteam. Moreover, with John Elkann’s unwavering financial and political support, Vasseur is on the verge of building a super unit which could potentially lead them to championship in 2025.
Fred Vasseur’s Ambition To Propel Ferrari To Championship In 2025?
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur is a visionary man, and he made his intentions of building a superteam obvious when the red team staged a massive coup earlier this year. John Elkann and Vasseur managed to convince Lewis Hamilton to switch after spending a decade at Mercedes. Subsequently, Fred also poached Mercedes’ two top engineers earlier this month. And the promising Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has already been in their pockets for a long while. The only missing link for Ferrari is aero wizard Adrian Newey. The 65-year-old is set to exit Red Bull in 2025 after serving nearly 20 years with the team. And so far, Vasseur has followed his trail, with a deal likely believed to be on the cards.
That being said, with F1 embracing major car and regulations changes in 2026, the timing for Ferrari to reset the pecking order couldn’t be better. If Adrian Newey happens to don the red cap next year, the Maranello-based team will finally have a superteam at hand to not only build the fastest machinery but also have overqualified drivers capable of optimizing every single tenth of race pace on the track. Besides, Fred Vasseur has already shown signs of improvement in the past 12 months, as Scuderia is the only team to win two races since 2023. Hence, Elkann is likely to protect him from the infamous political environment brewing in Italy. Overall, the prospect of Fred Vasseur, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Adrian Newey’s superteam dethroning Red Bull as ultimate champions of Formula 1 in 2024 seems very likely and believable at this point.
Adrian Newey Yet To Pick His Next Team, Confirms Manager
Amid rumors of Adrian Newey potentially joining Ferrari next year, his manager Eddie Jordan has dismissed all rumors whatsoever. Jordan said Newey hasn’t had any future discussions with any team and that he can bet his life for that regard. The link-up rumors to Maranello stays inaccurate.
Eddie Jordan said he is a position where he has information on Adrian Newey’s every step as he is his manager. However, Jordan stated that he does not intend to spill out any information at any stage. So far, the team is still inviting people to come with viable offers. “We’re looking at opportunities and letting people come and talk to us,” said Eddie Jordan while taking to media.
