EXPLAINED: Why The New York Yankees Should Immediately Fire Skipper Aaron Boone?

The New York Yankees had a terrible season this year. It has been one of the worst seasons in the history of the franchise. Moreover, it could possibly be the worst in the last 31 years. The NY side is the most successful team in the league’s history. They have been to the World Series for a record 40 times, winning it 27 times. But the last time the Bronx Bombers won a World Series was back in 2009. Since then, it has been quite a downward trajectory that the NY side followed.

In Aaron Boone’s tenure, the Yankees made the postseason in the first five times. But they could never go too far. Despite the presence of their 16th Captain, Aaron Judge, the Yankees failed to go the distance. But before making other changes, the Yankees might get rid of Boone. Mainly, it is because of the status quo. Since Aaron Boone became the manager, the seasons for the Yankees always ended in disappointment, even when they got to the playoffs.

Yankees Have Good Reasons For Planning To Fire Aaron Boone

A franchise that builds the most expensive roster should not finish in last place. Moreover, Aaron Boone led the Yankees to appear in a pair of ALCS. In three seasons of the last four years, the Yankees even failed to go past the ALDS. Hence, the fans would never leave an opportunity to blame Aaron Boone. Apparently, Boone doesn’t have a pretty good feel for the game. Either he pulls the starters too soon, or he will let them keep going for too long. The Yankees lost plenty of games because the manager presented a weak lineup. Sometimes, he left the best players on the bench.

Moreover, the Yankees should really let Boone go because he only has one more guaranteed year with the Yankees. It won’t make any sense to keep him for another whole year. Even it is not fair for Boone to stay as a lame-duck manager. For every bone-headed decision or more losing streaks, he will be answerable. Albeit, it is not entirely a manager’s fault. But that doesn’t mean the franchises can’t fire a manager after a disappointing tenure. Moreover, it is time for the Bronx Bombers to go in another direction.

Other Problems For The Bronx Bombers

There are all sorts of different problems for the Bronx Bombers. The roster of the NY side has become too old and injury-prone since the start of the current season. Moreover, the other problem for the Yankees is their manager Aaron Boone. Fans are not happy with Boone, but Captain Aaron Judge mentioned he would like Boone to continue. Since the fans hate him and after the disastrous 2023 season, perhaps Boone’s time is finally up. He might lose his job after the season is over. The NY franchise must be looking for a replacement for Boone.

However, it is not fair to blame Aaron Boone entirely. He is only part of the problem. What about the players who take the field every game? Why didn’t they perform as per the expectations? Moreover, Brian Cashman failed to put together a championship-winning worthy roster. But no fan wants to spare Aaron Boone for the disaster. Moreover, the Yankees need an overall change, as the current mix is just not working. DJ LeMahieu and Carlos Rodon failed to shine for the side this season. Only Gerrit Cole has been a reliable pitcher in the rotation, as he has been pitching the starter.
