The New York Yankees are looking to make significant changes in the organization. Every department in the franchise is subject to change. Moreover, the roster will go through strict changes after the debacle of the 2023 season. However, the roster might not be the only reason for the franchise’s consistently poor performances in the last few years.
After the NY side failed to make the postseason, the owner Hal Steinbrenner mentioned there would be some changes in the personnel and some outside the personnel. However, the owner emphasized on the big changes coming. And so did the 16th captain of the Yankees, Aaron Judge, mentioned about big changes while talking to the New York Post. Lately, an MLB insider reported that the NY side has hired a consulting firm to see through the analytics of the franchise.
MLB Insider Doesn’t Get The Importance Of A Consulting Firm To Review The Analytics Of The NY Franchise
Zelus Analytics will review the reasons for the failure of the analytics department of the Yankees. A couple of co-founders of the company were part of the research and development of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the past. In an interview with Foul Territory TV, Ken Rosenthal mentioned the Yankees need a more substantial change in the analytics and other departments in the organization. Moreover, Rosenthal is unsure about what good can come out of hiring this consulting firm. Adding to that, Rosenthal said the Yankees are only talking about big changes coming but nothing of substance has happened yet from their end.

Most importantly, Ken doesn’t think that the Yankees need a consulting firm to determine what’s wrong with their organization. On the other hand, Aaron Judge himself was pretty vocal about the analytics method in the previous season. Moreover, the Yankees captain mentioned there was nothing wrong with the way they were running the department. But the problem lies with the way they are reading the analytics. Hence, it is still pretty confusing about what the Yankees need a consulting firm for.
Aaron Judge Said The Yankees Were Planning To Make Big Changes
Judge had a great season in 2022 when he broke the all-time record for most homers in a season. But Aaron Judge did not have a great season as the Captain of the side. As they could not go very far in the playoffs in 2022. Later, in 2023, the Yankees totally failed to even make the postseason. It was the first time since 2016 that they failed to make it to the playoffs. But they barely managed to maintain the record of a winning season. They finished 2023 with 82-80.
It was a tremendous shame for the side that was once a contender for the world championship. Recently, the Texas Rangers won the World Series, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1. On the other hand, the Yankees are trying to figure out the changes in the organization ahead of the 2024 season. Aaron Judge said earlier that the team is looking to make changes in the analytics, coaching, players, and other departments as well. Moreover, they want to make it to the “Big Dance.”
