The 2024 season featured a similar victory song for Red Bull. The Milton Keynes-based squad enjoyed the rhythm of the victory until their harmony was disrupted. What started as a disagreement among the executives turned into an intra-team war, dividing the team into two factions.

As a result, a dominant team started struggling despite having one of the best drivers on board. Further, as McLaren and Mercedes are paving the way towards the top spot, the RBR defence looks weak. Thus, the team’s chief engineer, Paul Monaghan, urged the team to remain united to navigate this turbulent phase.

Paul Monaghan Opens Up About The ‘Immersive Racing World’ As Outside Noises Blocks Red Bull

In a joint interview with media outlets, Paul Monaghan acknowledged the challenges Red Bull will face in the upcoming months. He predicted the next ten races would be tight, emphasizing the difficulty ahead. Monaghan assured that Red Bull is fully committed to defending both championships with all its effort. He highlighted the importance of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in their campaign, noting their commitment to the team. The RBR chief engineer stressed the need for the entire team to stay united and extract the best performance from its resources to defend its titles.

Further, the British engineer also reflected on the immersive nature of being involved in Formula 1, particularly during race weekends. He mentioned that once immersed in the racing world, the focus on competition and the close battles with other teams become all-consuming. This immersion means he doesn’t follow or get disrupted by external factors, staying entirely focused on the task at hand. These statements by key personnel at the Milton Keynes-based outfit signify the importance of upcoming races. The remainder of the season is crucial for every F1 team, as it will ultimately decide the world champion. However, Red Bull must fight a battle on two fronts, as the inner disruption is far from over. Further, the chaos might grow louder with Jonathan Wheatley’s exit next year. Therefore, the energy drink-based outfit must extinguish the fire and bring peace.

McLaren To Use A ‘Secret Weapon’ To Hunt Down The Defending Champions

Zak Brown emphasized the importance of both McLaren drivers winning races this season, highlighting it as a significant strength for the team. He noted that having both drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, secure victories demonstrates their commitment to the team and ability to drive for the collective goal. Reflecting on past performances, he mentioned the 2021 season when McLaren finished first and second, with Lando having a good shot at Daniel Ricciardo. However, they maintained their positions to prioritize the team’s success. This approach underscores the team spirit and the strategic decision-making within McLaren.

Furthermore, the American executive described the drivers as McLaren’s “secret weapon” and emphasized that both drivers are crucial to the team’s success. He outlined that to win the constructors’ championship, both drivers must consistently finish as high as possible. The 52-year-old executive expressed his desire to see both drivers in the top three, stating that the closer they lead in the drivers’ standings, the better their chances in the constructors’ championship. Ultimately, Brown stressed that every point counts and that McLaren aims for success in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
