England Men\’s team has moved to the third position in the latest FIFA rankings. It is their joint-highest ranking ever since it began back in 1992. Belgium is still holding its top spot. They have been the no.1 FIFA team since 2018, even though they failed to win the world cup at the same time period. The rise in England\’s ranking came with the downfall of France. They hold second position before the European Championship, and now they slipped to the fourth spot.

The performance of the World Champions, France, hasn\’t been up to the mark since the European Championships. They got eliminated at the Round of 16 and also played a draw with Ukraine and Bosnia. At the beginning of this month, they played another draw with Herzegovina during the World Cup qualifying. This performance of France really helped England in getting the third spot. On the other hand, Brazil is the only European country to get a spot in the top three. They are still holding the second spot in the FIFA rankings.

When Gareth Southgate took command of the England team back in 2016, they were in the 13th position. That means England\’s Men\’s team made a long jump of ten spots in the last five years.

Men\’s FIFA World Cup is all set to take place in Qatar next year. It is likely that they will use the same rankings for the draw of the forthcoming World Cup. If this happens, then England will certainly be one of the seven countries in the pot one along with the tournament hosts, Qatar.
