“Cookie Crumbles,” Klay Thompson’s Honest Take On Golden State Warriors Blowout Loss To Spurs

Klay Thompson was not able to lead the Golden State Warriors to win against the San Antonio Spurs without Steph Curry. Moreover, the SA Spurs did not have their main man, Victor Wembanyama. Hence, both GSW and SAS played without their main star. But the result was not at all as expected. Currently, the San Antonio Spurs are at the bottom of the Western Conference. They are the 15th seed in the West with a 14-50 record. On the other hand, the Dubs are the 10th in the same conference. They are barely holding on to the play-in spot.

Moreover, the Spurs gave a blowout loss to the Warriors, 126-113, at Chase Center. Even with Steph Curry in the lineup, the GSW had an even bigger blowout loss against the Milwaukee Bucks. Moreover, the Warriors really need to fight hard to maintain their place in the play-in tournament. Especially, now that Steph won’t be available between 7 and 10 days. The onus is on Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to maintain a winning streak in the absence of Curry. But they don’t seem to deliver at the moment. Lately, Klay Thompson had a cryptic message to describe their blowout loss to the Spurs.

What’s The Meaning Of The Cryptic Response Of Klay Thompson?

In the post-game press conference, somebody asked Klay Thompson about the blowout loss to the bottom-placed team in the Western Conference. The four-time champion replied, “That’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes.” However, Klay had a good scoring game on Saturday at home. The five-time All-Star scored 27 points for a losing cause. He attempted ten three-pointers. But Klay managed to score 50% of those attempts. Without Curry, the seven-time champion franchise looks helpless at times. But they still have quality names in their rotation, like Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga, and, of course, Klay and Dray.

However, it does not seem enough sometimes. Besides Klay Thompson, Kuminga was on the scoresheet. In fact, he was pretty good, scoring 26 points. Before the second half started, the Spurs were leading the Warriors by 19 points. At halftime, the score was 62-43 to the visitors. However, in the second half, Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga tried their very best to rally the GSW attack. But in the end, they fell short. Since the modern-day Dynasty is loosely hanging around the play-in spot, they can’t afford to lose these games against bottom-placed teams.

Klay Credits Steph For Making His Teammates’ Lives Easier

The five-time All-Star missed his Splash Brother against the San Antonio Spurs. In the post-game press conference, Klay Thompson pointed at Curry’s significant presence. One Splash Brother said the other brother demands so much attention on the court that it makes lives easier for the rest of the guys.

Steph suffered a right ankle sprain against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. He may not be able to return to the lineup in the next 7-10 days. As a result, things might get even worse for the Dubs if they don’t figure out a way to win games without the three-point King. If they manage to win the next few games, it will make the life of Steph a lot easier when he returns.
