Max Verstappen has been unstoppable for the last two seasons. Moreover, he has broken multiple records already. And after the season resumes from the current summer break, he will be on the verge of breaking many more records. If he gets to break all of them, he will undoubtedly become an all-time great before he is 25. Currently, there is no driver who is even posing a threat to Verstappen. He is driving everybody around circles on merits, as per Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. It is a great compliment coming from the arch-rival team boss.
But these compliments came specifically after the media caught the verbal battles between Max Verstappen and his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, on the TV radio. According to Toto Wolff, Mercedes can be a little bit cheeky; after all, he is dominating the grid on a whole other level. But the rival boss admits that it is a little bit annoying to watch. However, nobody can do anything about it. Recently, Red Bull boss Christian Horner added his view on the chemistry of the driver and the engineer.
Christian Horner Pokes His Team’s Driver And Engineer
In an interview after the race with SpeedCity Broadcasting, Horner mentioned, “I sometimes feel that they should go through marriage counseling.” However, Christian Horner believes both Gianpiero Lambiase and Max Verstappen have a lot of respect and trust for and between each other, respectively. Moreover, Red Bull’s boss feels that every sportsperson like to lean on people they find around them. But Horner feels in this case, Lambiase gets to have that interaction. On top of that, Christian Horner also added that it is not easy to work with Max Verstappen.
But Gianpiero Lambiase has learned to deal with the outbursts of the current double-time champion. Horner jokes a little more, saying that Gianpiero is equivalent to Jason Statham after saying the driver and the engineer needs marriage counseling. According to Christian Horner, Max Verstappen is so tough that he can break any race engineer that comes his way. Hence, the Red Bull team needs a strong, self-assured engineer who won’t take a step back because of Verstappen’s antics. That’s why Horner compares Lambiase with Statham. Moreover, they look like a bit as well.
Max Verstappen And Gianpiero Lambiase Have A Great Camaraderie
Horner also believe that it is not just in those two earlier races where they had arguments. These arguments have been going on for about six years, according to Christian Horner. As per Max Verstappen, he was joking around after their argument. However, Gianpiero Lambiase had to keep on acting seriously. On the other hand, some fans showed concerns over the arguments between the racer and the engineer of Red Bull.
In reply, Max Verstappen mentioned that there is nothing to worry about. Adding to that, he mentioned that both of them are a bit hot-headed, and occasionally they lose their cool. But eventually, they sort it out. Moreover, the Red Bull star mentioned that they have a great camaraderie between them despite what it seems after hearing them on the radio.
