Besides the lack of offensive production and limited depth, incessant injury setbacks hampered the New York Yankees’ 2023 MLB season. After Aaron Judge hit his toe on the concrete slab of Dodgers stadium and tore the ligament tissue, the Bombers’ hitting lineup collapsed. Run production ceased to exist, and the rest is history.

While Aaron Judge’s absence hurt the Yankees the most, injuries to several key players during crucial stretches also played a significant role. A few players were also shut down mid-season owing to grievous injury concerns. Meanwhile, ahead of the 2024 season, fans’ concerns continue to gain momentum. Amid speculations, Aaron Boone dropped a health update on several key figures.

As the New York Yankees gear up for the highly anticipated 2024 season, the team’s skipper, Aaron Boone, has provided a comprehensive injury report. Thus shedding light on the status of several notable players. The updates come as fans eagerly await the start of the season, hoping for a strong and healthy roster to lead the Bronx Bombers to success. One of the key names in the injury report is the Yanks’ reliable first baseman, Anthony Rizzo. The infielder suffered a concussion mid-season but was diagnosed two months later. Subsequently, the baseman was shut down as a precautionary measure. Having said that, Rizzo remains headed in the right direction with respect to recovery, says Aaron Boone.

During the winter meetings press conference, the Yankees skipper confirmed that Anthony Rizzo would return to action by spring training. On the other hand, starting pitcher Nestor Cortes, suffering from rotator cuff strain, resumed throwing activities. Boone says he is also headed on the right track in his recovery plan. However, the skipper refused to share a plausible timeline. Besides, prospect Jasson Dominguez, currently in rehab owing to a UCL injury, will immediately return to the outfield after recovery, says Boone. The Martian is expected to miss half of the upcoming 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Meanwhile, the Bronx Bombers acquired an alternative via trade this off-season. Alex Verdugo of the Boston Red Sox was traded earlier this week. Additionally, Juan Soto’s blockbuster trade could also come through. If so happens, Aaron Judge will move to center field for the 2024 season.

New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone came under scrutiny over the team’s lost 2023 season. While the players’ feedback and trust saved his job, the future beyond 2024 remains in Boone’s hands. He either delivers or leaves, as the Yanks seem unlikely to exercise his 2025 club option. Meanwhile, the skipper addressed his 2024 season plans during a press conference in Nashville.

Aaron Boone said he is over the 2023 season setback and is already looking ahead to manage the team in 2024. His focus right now is to build a strong roster and pull off an inspiring comeback. The skipper claimed that he is not someone to swell on the past. Rather, a manager who is merely focused on winning a championship for this team, the New York Yankees.
