The New York Yankees have had their best start to the season since 1997. With 6-1, the team currently leads AL-East. Moreover, after a successful couple of road trips, the Bronx Bombers will now move home for their first home series of the year against the Toronto Blue Jays.

That being said, the key to New York Yankees’ rebound success so far has been offensive production from the underdogs. While Juan Soto has done his job, Aaron Judge is running a little behind. Nonetheless, the young guns, especially a second year shortstop has showed massive signs of improvement and at this rate, he could be heading towards a breakout year.

New York Yankees highly touted shortstop Anthony Volpe witnessed a decent rookie season in 2023. While he went for 20 home runs and as many stolen bases, his on-base percentage ranked second lowest in the league. Regardless, the kid fetched his first golden glove in the shortstop position, thus laying the foundation for a stellar sophomore season. Volpe went into the off-season trying to channel his learnings into something fruitful. He changed his stride and swing and bore positive results early into the season. Volpe is currently slashing .409/.500/.682 with one home run and three doubles, which includes a career-high four-hit game. His contributions helped the Yanks seal a close victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

That being said, taking Anthony Volpe’s fire start, over two dozen MLB executives voted on who could be the breakout star of 2024, and Volpe was tied for the fifth most votes. However, chasing a breakout year is easier said than done. While Volpe has passed his rookie stage, that does not mean he won’t face tougher challenges. Staying consistent and getting on bases frequently is something the shortstop has to majorly work on. Of course, his tweaked swing has helped create a better connection. However, as the season progresses, challenges will only increase for the 23-year-old kid. Regardless, with the support of legends like Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, Anthony Volpe will have the freedom to play his game. And given the stars align, the New Jersey kid could emerge as the breakout star of the 2024 MLB season.

In a significant change, the New York Yankees home series vs Marlins has been pushed back due to the occurrence of a solar eclipse. Yanks were scheduled to meet Miami Marlins on next Tuesday at the Yankee Stadium, with first pitch scheduled at 2:05 PM. However, with the space phenomena overlapping, the authorised have delayed the time of first pitch.

As per revised timings, New York Yankees-Miami Marlin’s first pitch will be thrown at 6:05 PM. Notably, the Bronx Bombers began the season on the road and have achieved tremendous success. Therefore, the pressure to kick things on a winning note at home in the Bronx is nothing short of an added pressure and challenge for the in-form Bombers lineup.
