Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees’ top prospect widely known as ‘The Martian,’ made a premature debut to the big leagues last September. However, not once it appeared that the 21-year-old wasn’t ready to be a regular starter. He logged a .980 OPS across just 31 at-bats before tearing his UCL elbow.

The kid was sent for Tommy John surgery immediately after. That being said, after a 8 month long rehab, Jasson Dominguez resume action in Triple-A only to fall back on IL with a oblique strain. Amid a series of injury concern, the Yankees finally have some positive news on the Martian.

In an exciting news that sent waves of happiness across the Yankees nation, Jasson Dominguez was activated off IL by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Dominguez spent the past entire year healing from back-to-back injuries. He went under the knife for Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL in September 2023. After months of grueling rehabilitation, the prospect made his way back to the minor league in July. However, fate continued to test the Martian as he landed back on the injury list in just five days with an oblique strain. He then again spent four-six weeks in recovery, and finally, this week, the kid was reinstated from IL. However, owing to his fitness concerns, Jasson will play as a designated hitter for the near future.

On his first day back to the office, Jasson Dominguez went 1-for-4 as DH. Notably, Jasson Dominguez’s return adds another potent bat to the New York Yankees’ offense, which has shown flashes of brilliance but struggled with consistency at times. His debut was a hit last year. And given the offensive struggles this year, it’s highly likely that the Yanks will recall him back to majors sometime in late August or September when the roster expands. For now, the Yanks will allow Dominguez to build up gradually in the minors, and his development and readiness will be closely monitored by people sitting in the Bronx. That being said, the Bronx Bombers are also expected to activate Giancarlo Stanton from IL on Monday. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed the timeline. However, a final decision is pending medical assessment. Notably, Stanton was hitting .247 with 18 homers before picking up a hamstring injury.

The New York Yankees’ lead against the Boston Red Sox was in jeopardy courtesy of starting pitcher Nestor Cortes’ blowout start. He allowed four runs in 4.2 innings pitched before Aaron Boone walked out to the middle to remove him. However, Cortes wasn’t remotely impressed as he rolled his eyes at Boone in frustration.

Nestor Cortes was disappointed and didn’t want to leave the mound this year. But he didn’t fight the manager and quietly made his way back to the dugout. That being said, Cortes’ frustration resonated with the millions of Yankees fans who were appalled by yet another embarrassing loss to arch-rivals Boston Red Sox.
