CHECKOUT: Yankees’ Juan Soto Did Something That No Other Yankees Has Done In The Last 100 Years

Juan Soto has been the biggest name that the New York Yankees managed to land in the offseason. They really needed someone like him to boost their offense. Last year, the NY side had the second-worst batting average in the league. They were only better than the nine-time champions, the Oakland Athletics. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers finished with an awful 82-80 record. It was their worst season in the last 30 years. Moreover, they finished fourth in the American League East. Clearly, that’s not where the 27-time champions want to finish again.

As a result, they made some significant changes in the offseason. They sacrificed a lot of pitching resources to sign Juan Soto. Moreover, the Dominican superstar is the best hitter in baseball, and the Yankees Stadium is perfect for his hitting arc. That’s the type of left-handed hitter, the NY side was looking for in the offseason. And they got him. Since Soto donned the Pinstripe uniform, he has been doing something special. He had a great start to the 2024 season. Lately, Juan Soto did something that a Yankee player has not done in the last 100 years.

Lately, Juan Soto helped the NY side win against the Tampa Bay Rays and have a 14-6 record. Currently, the Yankees have the best record in the American League. Hitting home run for fun comes naturally to the Dominican superstar. That’s what he did again on Friday at the Yankee Stadium against the Rays. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers won 5-3 against the visitors. Juan Soto hit a three-run homer, powering the Yankees with a five-run eighth inning. It was the fifth time the Dominican slugger had done it in 2024. At present, the best hitter in baseball is averaging .347 with a 1.068 OPS.

Moreover, it has been an impressive performance from Juan Soto so far, as Aaron Judge has been struggling with a .189 hitting average at the moment. After his impressive performance against the Tampa Bay Rays, Soto joined an elite group. According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, the Dominican slugger has five home runs, and 20 RBIs at least in his first twenty games with the New York Yankees. As per the RBI official since 1920, there has been only two sluggers who managed to do it for the 27-time champions. Besides Juan Soto, it was Glenallen Hill. Hence, it is an exclusive club in the Yankees history. So far, Juan Soto’s five home runs are equal for 12th in 2024 MLB, and his 20 RBIs are tied for 4th. He also added one stolen base to boot.

Clearly, Juan Soto has been everything the New York Yankees have been looking for. He had a dream start to the 2024 season for the Pinstripes. Only time can tell if he will extend his contract with the Bronx Bombers. But whatever happens with his contract negotiations, it won’t change the fact that he is one of the best hitters in the league.

Soto is a batting champion already. He has been a home run derby champion, and he has also been a multi-time All-Star. Moreover, he won a World Series in 2019 with the Washington Nationals. Only time can tell if he can help the Yankees win their 28th World Series.
