Brian Cashman, the New York Yankees longest serving general manager, appeared before the media following the trade deadline conclusion to defend the front office’s underwhelming moves. With just three roster additions, the fans weren’t pleased with the club’s conservative approach to protect the farm system.

However, Brian Cashman firmly suggested that the front office’s choices were in the best interest of the franchise’s long-term future. Also, Cashman already considers the present roster good enough to contest for World Series. However, when the GM was cross questioned by WFAN radio hosts over the franchise’s lack of urgency, he lost his cool on air.

The New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman was grilled on his latest appearance on WFAN Radio. Hosts  Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata accused the Bronx Bombers front office of lacking the necessary urgency required to contest for World Series. He cited the examples of underwhelming trade deadline moves and questionable extensions of Aaron Hicks and Joey Gallo despite their hideous stretches. However, Brian Cashman lost his cool and got a little testy on air. He highlighted the signings of Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole and the latest trade of Juan Soto to prove the team’s mindset to build a championship-winning caliber roster. He added how higher payroll is to improve the team’s chances of winning. “I would refute what you’re saying. It doesn’t make any sense,” Cashman said.

Not only that, Brian Cashman added that the New York Yankees’ urgency should be judged on whether they win the World Series or not. “When the dust settles, it just comes down to, did we win the World Series or not? If we didn’t win, then obviously you question their hunger,” Cashman added. Notably, the general manager also defended the extended leash provided to Hicks and Gallo, stating the team combination’s stability was more important at that time, and it was a strategic move that unfortunately didn’t pan out as expected. Overall, Brian Cashman is satisfied with the trade deadline and is confident of the competitiveness of the present roster. The New York Yankees are tied for the AL-East first spot with the Baltimore Orioles with a 65-45 record. The upcoming series against the Blue Jays is a perfect opportunity to get back the division lead from the defending division champions.

Yankees Trade Moves Produces Immediate Impact

While Brian Cashman didn’t sign off on many moves, the three guys he imported are already thriving under New York city lights. Jazz Chisholm Jr hit back to back multi-homer games in his debut series to script franchise history for the New York Yankees. Additionally, Chisholm has adapted himself well in the unexplored third base territory.

On the other hand, reliever Mark Leiter Jr pitched a scoreless 10th inning in Yankees thriller extra inning 7-6 victory over Philadelphia Phillies. Hence, the general manager might have got his moves right this year. Of course, the real challenge awaits them at the Yankee Stadium where they are set to face Blue Jays over the weekend.
