The New York Yankees have the best record (50-24) in MLB as of this writing. Despite a series loss to Boston Red Sox, the Bronx Bombers are marching strongly towards a postseason finish. And given the team’s success, the franchise is expected to have significant representation in the All-Star game.
The All-Star game will be scheduled around July wherein AL and NL All-Star teams will be pitted against each other in a clash of titans. The voting for player selection has begun and as per early trends released by insider Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Yankees powerful duo have emerged as the leading vote getters in AL.
Aaron Judge-Juan Soto Nearly Confirmed For All-Star Game
The New York Yankees’ star players Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are making waves in the early All-Star voting trends, leading the pack with significant support from fans. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic shared an update on the voting trends and revealed that Judge and Soto have received the highest number of votes in the American League, irrespective of their positions. Hence, the dynamic duo is more or less a confirmed outfield starter for the American League’s All-Star team. Notably, Giancarlo Stanton also received the second-highest votes as DH. While Anthony Volpe ranks third in the shortstop list, Anthony Rizzo has received fourth highest votes as first baseman. However, Rizzo’s numbers haven’t been up to the mark this year.
Anthony Rizzo has a .223/.289/.341 slash line across over 60 games this year. Anyways, the trends do not matter for Rizzo anyway as the baseman fractured his arm on Sunday and is headed to IL for 4-6 weeks. Now, besides these names, rookie Luis Gil is also leading the race for starting pitcher. Across 14 starts, Gil has a 2.03 ERA and 98 strikeouts with an impressive 9-1 win-loss record. However, given the workload management plan, the Yankees may be a little apprehensive about sending Gil to the All-Star game if he gets selected. But at the same time, as a rookie who has struggled through injuries all his life, an All-Star selection could be a massive achievement for Gil. Hence, the Bronx Bombers might not necessarily stand his way if things turn in Gil’s favor. Overall, the All-Star game will have a good representation of the Yanks, which will be a massive moment of pride for the franchise.
Yankees Teammates Ranks Judge-Soto In MVP-Race
Jon Heyman of New York Post was out on a mission to figure out the internal feelings about Aaron Judge and Juan Soto’s competition in the AL-MVP race. He asked each of Yankees members to pick their choice. And a lot of of them understandably refused to take sides.
However, Heyman revealed that a handful of Yankees members picked Aaron Judge, whereas one or two people picked Juan Soto. Regardless, the Bronx Bombers take solace in the fact that they are privileged to have two MVP candidates in their team, which will, in turn, fuel their ultimate World Series Championship aspirations.
