Throughout his career, Aaron Judge has been a cornerstone player for the New York Yankees, known for his ability to deliver clutch hits and jaw-dropping home runs. However, the 2024 season has presented unique challenges for the star outfielder, as he finds himself in an unprecedented hitting slump.

Aaron Judge hasn’t fired on the plate like he is accustomed to. While the lower order is covering up for him, it won’t be too long before the Yankees offense collapses due to a lack of contribution from the captain. However, irrespective of the adverse circumstances, Aaron Judge is focused on what he needs to do to put up some numbers this year.

Aaron Judge Wants To Keep Hitting Amid Offensive Slump!

The New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge went hitless against Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, resulting in a 5-4 narrow loss. Notably, Judge’s form has been extremely poor this year, according to his standards. He is hitting .182 with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs in 18 games. Needless to say, his offensive lackluster is hurting the team big time. However, despite his struggles at the plate, Judge remains determined and focused on breaking out of his slump. After Tuesday’s game, the captain added that he is missing the pitches which deserve banging. However, to improve on that, he feels the need to bat aggressively and put as many good at-bats as possible.

“The only way to put up some hits, especially with our lineup. You’ve got to keep swinging,” said Aaron Judge in a post-game interview. He emphasized the importance of staying aggressive and maintaining a positive mindset, even in the face of adversity. Indeed, Judge’s track record and work ethic suggest that he is more than capable of overcoming his current challenges. Furthermore, Judge’s teammates and coaches have expressed confidence in his ability to turn things around. Manager Aaron Boone stated that he is not bothered about the captain’s form. A player of Judge’s caliber knows more than anyone about ways to cope with these unprecedented slumps. So overall, the New York Yankees are as positive as Aaron Judge about the slugger’s form going into the full-season grind.

Aaron Boone Calls Infield Defense Strength Despite Silly Miscues

The New York Yankees lost a couple of matches on the trot due to silly miscues by infield defense. Anthony Volpe and Gleyber Torres especially have been sloppy in the past week, which was largely viewed as a problematic sign. However, skipper Aaron Boone backed the defense, saying that the infield unit has been the team’s biggest strength in the recent past. “I think we’re in the top five in the league right now,” said Boone.

Aaron Boone further admitted that a few lapses in past week has been unacceptable. But overall, the sample size of the misuse is small, and it’s still way too early into the season to draw conclusions. “We’ve made a few mistakes, part of it, especially early, small sample,” added the Yankees skipper in Talkin Yanks podcast.
