CHECKOUT: Why Former All-Star Slams Yankees GM For Personal Analytics Claims?

The New York Yankees have not made it to the World Series since 2009. They have not won the “Big Dance” since the same time. After failing to make the postseason this year, captain Aaron Judge claimed the franchise wants to play in the World Series again. As things stand, it is hard to believe the Bronx Bombers can make the World Series next year. However, miracles do happen in sports and life. But to make it happen, the NY side needs to take all the steps they can. They know they need changes in the roster. The Yankees are working on it.

Besides the roster, the Yankees were looking to make other changes in the organization as well. When the reporters asked Brian Cashman about the changes in the analytics department, the Yankees GM claimed it’s not a big deal. He tried to hide, meaninglessly, the big analytics department they had during the GM Meetings in Scottsdale, Arizona last month. In fact, Jason Kipnis slams Brian Cashman for downplaying the analytics department of the 27-time champions.

Why Would The Yankees GM Spread Wrong Information About The Analytics Department?

Moreover, the New York Yankees have one of the largest analytics department in the game of baseball. It is definitely not the smallest on the east coast. As per Erik Boland of Newsday, the analytic department of the Yankees is bigger than the LA Dodgers and only second to the Tampa Bay Rays. Kipnis said he didn’t need to see Boland’s graph to know how big is the analytics department. Moreover, the former All-Star said, “Brian Cashman’s statement was full of s**t.” Adding to that, Kipnis said his former teammates always rave about the analytical side of the Yankees. Moreover, Kipnis claims that the Yankees sluggers have the advantage of gathering a lot more information than other teams.

On top of that, the former All-Star claims that it might be small to Brian Cashman because he worries about other stuff and delegates the analytics to other people. Anyhow, Jason Kipnis said it doesn’t make any sense why the Yankees GM made such nonsense claims at the GM Meetings last month. On the other hand, the Yankees captain claims there’s a communication issue in the organization. As per Aaron Judge, they don’t always prioritize the right information and then keep it flowing. Some coaches might operate based on their hunches. However, every important managerial staff needs to have the right information. Above all, the GM needs that. But in the Yankees case, it seems otherwise.

They are among the top contenders to land three superstar free agents this offseason. Albeit, the biggest name in free agency this time is Shohei Ohtani. The NY side is not the favorite to sign him. But the Yankees can try to land Cody Bellinger. He’s the son of Clay Bellinger, a former Yankees star.

But Cody Bellinger has a World Series title in his impressive resume. He is a lefty slugger who is an essential trade target for the Yankees. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers have plans to acquire Yoshinobu Yamamoto, a Japanese pitching sensation. On the other hand, Juan Soto is a player the Yankees Nation dearly wants to bring in the Bronx.
