CHECKOUT: Warriors Ace Stephen Curry Wins NBA Clutch Player Award For 23-24 NBA Season

Stephen Curry had a disappointing season in the 2023-24 edition. He wanted to lead the Golden State Warriors to their fifth NBA title in ten years. That would prove the Dubs Dynasty is still going strong. But several things went against the GSW in the 2023-24 season. First of all, the start they had could have been better. Draymond Green, one of their key members, received back-to-back suspensions very early in the ongoing season. Moreover, the absence of Green really weakened the Dubs’ defense. On top of that, Klay Thompson, the Splash brother of Steph, was not at his finest form in the season.

But even then the Dubs Nation had faith in the team that they can go far if they make the postseason. The Warriors made it to the play-in stage. However, to the utter disappointment of the Dubs Nation, the Sacramento Kings knocked the Golden State franchise out of the ongoing season. Later, there were a lot of rumors about Klay Thompson leaving the team ahead of the next season. Even in this confusing period, the three-point King managed to bring some good news to the fans. Lately, Steph won the NBA Clutch Player Of The Year Award.

On Thursday, the NBA named Stephen Curry the winner of the 2023-24 Clutch Player Of The Year Award. Generally, the clutch time is the final five minutes of the fourth quarter. Then, when the game goes to overtime, and the score is within five points, it can still be clutch time. During such a phase of the game, Steph averaged 4.4 points, and his shooting percentages were 49.6% from the field, 95.1% from free throws, and his specialty, 45.7% from the three-point range. Stephen Curry has the second-best scoring average in the league among the players who appeared in more than a single clutch game.

The other finalists for the Clutch Player Of The Year Award were DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. DeRozan narrowly lost to the three-point King for the Clutch Player Award. Stephen Curry gained 298 points, whereas the Bulls star won 278 points. Then, the guard of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai, earned 160 points overall. This award comes with the Jerry West trophy. Moreover, Stephen Curry got 45 votes to win the top spot. On the other hand, DeMar DeRozan got 34. In the end, there came some good news for Steph from the disappointing season.

What It Feels Like For The Three-point King To See The Playoffs From The Outside?

Since winning the 2022 championship, the Warriors have never really been outside the playoffs. Even this year, the Dubs made the postseason. But they just could not get past the play-in stage. Recently, in an interview on the show Inside the NBA of TNT, Steph mentioned that he is just a big fan of the game and is watching the playoffs to know how “It plays out.”

But the benefit of watching the playoffs from the outside is that Curry believes that they will learn what they need to do to get back to that level. As a result, Steph mentioned that he is doing some “Scouting and taking notes.” He really misses that environment and would not like to miss it again next year.
