LeBron James & Stephen Curry are two of the biggest names in modern-day basketball. They have been arch-rivals for a long time. Moreover, the rivalry reached epic proportions when the two greats met in four back-to-back NBA Finals between 2015 and 2018. The two guys from Akron, Ohio, dominated the league at the same time. Moreover, their time is not over yet. However, the rivalry seems to be over. On top of that, the two greats of the game joined with the other great, Kevin Durant, in Team USA colors and went on to win the Olympic Gold in Paris this year.
KD and Stephen Curry have been teammates in the past when they helped the Golden State Warriors beat the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals. But can LBJ ever be a teammate of Steph or KD in the NBA? It would be a dream come true for all NBA fans to see James play alongside Curry and Durant for the same NBA franchise. Moreover, the greatest shooter in the game expressed his desire to be teammates with the all-time leading scorer in the league again.
Stephen Curry And LeBron James Teammates Again?
Recently, in an interview with People, Stephen Curry told Natasha Dye that he hopes to have more experiences with LeBron James as teammates or not before they hang up their boots. Very few players can even dream of having such Hall of Famer careers like the two greats from Akron, Ohio, have. The three-point King said that after all the battles they have had on the court and it went back and forth. But eventually, getting the chance to be teammates where it actually mattered made a big difference. It was not like an All-Star game where the stakes are not as high. However, it was the Olympics, the greatest sporting event on earth, where there was a lot in the line, and it helped them deepen their respect and friendship with each other.
KD is 35, Steph is 36, and LBJ is 39, and Father Time will catch up with them soon. When can the fans watch this trio together again? There does not seem to be a possible or realistic path for these guys to be teammates again. Lately, Steph signed a one-year extension with the Dubs that will see him through the 2026-2027 season. On the other hand, LeBron James is unlikely to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after they drafted his son, Bronny James. The all-time leading scorer would like to play alongside his son in the NBA. That was his dream for a long time.
How Can The Modern-Day Greats Come Together Again?
Recently, Stephen Curry erased all doubts of the Dub Nation to prove that he is not going anywhere. He signed a historic one year extension worth $62.6 million with the GSW that will keep him in the Bay Area until 2027. It was his long wish to stay “Warrior for Life.” On the other hand, Kevin Durant can try, and sign with the Dubs again. The Bay Area would welcome him back with both hands. But he does not likely will leave the Phoenix Suns soon.
Then, there is LeBron James who may not want to be a Warrior with whom he had such fierce rivalry over the years. Then, LBJ’s agent, Rich Paul, said he would not want him to leave the Lakers because that would make James move to a fourth NBA team in his illustrious career. That does not sound good. Steph’s trying to stay with one NBA team throughout his career, and on the other hand, James has been to three teams already.
