Juan Soto is a phenomenal talent. He has been that since he made his MLB debut at the age of 19. The Dominican superstar has an impressive resume. He is a three-time All-Star. Moreover, he has been the winner of four Silver Slugger Awards and won the 2020 NL Batting Champion. So far, he has not won an MVP award. But that might not be far from him this ongoing season. Moreover, he has won a World Series with the Washington Nationals. This year, the best hitter in baseball is part of the New York Yankees. He can win the American League MVP as well as the World Series this year.

That’s how good and lucky he has been for the Bronx Bombers over 55 games. However, Juan Soto is part of the NY side only for a year. Last offseason, the Yankees traded a lot of their pitching resources to land the Dominican superstar. But Scott Boras, the agent of Soto, will make sure that his client enters free agency next offseason. The former Nationals hitter will be the biggest name entering the next free agent market. However, Boras likes to think that Soto is not a typical free agent.

Clearly, Juan Soto has a really impressive resume. Lately, his agent, Scott Boras, added another title to his noteworthy resume. As per his agent, the Dominican superstar is a “Centurion.” Greg Joyce of The New York Post recently wrote that Boras said Soto is one of the top 100 players to ever play baseball. According to the most well-known baseball agent, generational talents like Juan Soto are not some free agents that cost a team. After all, it is a “Franchise-appreciation addition.” That’s what Boras told the reporters on Tuesday. On that same day, the Yankees lost to the Los Angeles Angels 4-3.

Moreover, Scott Boras explained his idea of a “Centurion” a little further, saying, “Whatever your franchise is worth, a centurion in your team will make it worth a billion more.” These comments from Soto’s agent came after a week of what Hal Steinbrenner said about the franchise’s payroll issue. Clearly, the NY side does not have a great cap space right now. They have to pay over $300 million to two players at least, Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole. Moreover, the franchise has not won a World Series since 2009. If they can win a title this year, it will be worth taking a risk for Soto.

Yankees Owner Says Their Payroll Is Not Sustainable

Last week during MLB owners meeting, Hal Steinbrenner noted that this season, their current payroll is around $313 million owing to luxury tax purposes. As a result, it is not simply sustainable. In pending free agents, the Yankees more or less have $40 million for the next season to come off their books. On the other hand, in his final year of arbitration, Juan Soto will make $31 million.

Later, on Tuesday, the Dominican superstar added to his demand in the market with his 15th home run this season. Soto’s homer was a solo blast in the first inning. In the end, the 2020 NL Batting Champion finished with two RBIs and 2 for 5 on Tuesday. As a Scott Boras agent, he will definitely enter the free agent market.
