The New York Yankees displayed signs of struggle in home series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays held on Friday. The game gave birth to a major controversy surrounding second baseman Gleyber Torres as he was benched mid game for showing lack of hustle and game awareness while running on basepaths.

Regardless, the New York Yankees bounced back in game 2 with a dominant 8-3 victory. Having said that, the rubber game held on Sunday was delayed by rain before Yanks struggling veteran third baseman DJ LeMahieu produced a clutch hit to avail a third series victory in a row to his side.

The New York Yankees veteran third baseman DJ LeMahieu plummeted to an all-time career low as his no-extra base hit streak extended to 129 plate appearances. His season debut was also delayed due to a foot injury that kept him out of the field for 8 weeks. Regardless, the team management trusted DJ, and he delivered a time career-high 6 RBI game against the Phillies last week. LeMahieu once again produced a clutch hit in the Yanks’ 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday. The rubber game was tied 3-3 before rain stopped play. After it resumed in the eighth inning, the play was extended to the 10th extra inning, where Anthony Volpe loaded the bases.

DJ LeMahieu produced a walk-off hit against reliever Bowden Francis to drive Volpe home with the match-winning run. Meanwhile, DJ LeMahieu was elated as well as relieved to finally be able to contribute to Yankees victories. He revealed how the team stepped out with extra energy after the rain delay, which eventually helped him hit the clutch drive. “I was able to work on a few things, and I’m taking some pretty good swings. I’m feeling much better at the plate,” LeMahieu said in the post-game interview before Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe soaked him with ice-cold water. The victory was important for LeMahiue, who desperately needed a boost to revive his season. The 37-year-old is once again being tasked to prove himself, and so far, DJ has performed phenomenally well in achieving the quest.

Aaron Judge Intentionally Walked Thrice By Blue Jays

The New York Yankees captain, Aaron Judge, had a frustrating outing on Sunday as the Blue Jays intentionally walked him thrice to avert the risk. While the Yanks ended up winning the game in the extra inning, Judge’s teammate Juan Soto expressed displeasure over the Blue Jays’ tactics. “It sucks, and it’s just because you want him on the plate,” Soto said.

The generational star further added that in his every at-bat, he tried to do his best to get Aaron Judge on the plate because the captain has been in some unreal form all season long. But to see the opposition playing the chicken game is really disheartening to Soto. “To see them pass him over just really makes me mad,” Soto added.
