Aaron Judge and Juan Soto form a lethal duo for the New York Yankees. This duo was not available for the NY side last season. If they had this pair, the season would have been better. Last year, the Bronx Bombers finished with an awful 82-80 record. As a result, it was their worst season in the last 30 years. Moreover, the NY side was really close to finishing last in their division. But they managed to prevent it somehow. Nevertheless, it was a forgettable season for them as it was a tremendous shame to finish fourth in the American League East division.

Since then, the team has made significant changes, and the most impactful has been clearly the addition of Juan Soto to the roster. Now, the Yankees possess two of the best hitters on their roster, coming to bat right after one another. So far, it has been nothing short of a nightmare for the opponent pitchers to throw at Judge right after Soto. There is a good possibility that the Judge-Soto duo might make the best right-left hitting pair in baseball’s history.

Recently, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic mentioned that one Yankees official made an amazing question: Has there ever been a better left-right hitting combination than Aaron Judge and Juan Soto? Rosenthal realized it was not a brag. Instead, the official just tried to start a fascinating baseball conversation. As per The Athletic reporter, there is a lot of tough competition for the Judge-Soto duo. For instance, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, again from the Dodgers, there is the left-right duo of Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts again. From the Atlanta Braves, there was Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson in 2023. They were pretty good.

Anyway, Rosenthal used the Stathead tool of Baseball Reference to look at some of the greatest left-right combinations in MLB’s history. Talking about the best-hitting pair in the history of the game, there always comes the duo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. That pair led the NY side to a World Series championship in 1932. They combined for 75 home runs that season, along with 258 runs and 288 RBIs. The Ruth-Gehrig pair spearheaded the Yankees offense that averaged 6.42 runs per every outing. That NY side was the only franchise to score 1000 runs. It is incredibly difficult to top that. But can the Judge-Soto duo accomplish the impossible?

On Thursday, the Bronx Bombers managed to sweep the series against the Minnesota Twins. There were a few changes that drew the crowd’s attention in Game 3. Aaron Boone used the Yankees captain in the left field. It was for the first time that Aaron Judge was playing on the left field at Yankee Stadium. On the other hand, there has been a bit scary news for the fans.

As Juan Soto did not return to be in the outfield on Thursday due to a left forearm discomfort. The Dominican superstar has not missed a game yet this season. Will he be available for the next series against the Los Angeles Dodgers? That’s the million-dollar question at the moment ahead of the highly anticipated series played between the two giants.
