W15
Mercedes AMG-Petronas

The Mercedes team has been in the stratosphere since the last two weekends. After struggling to win a single race for the past two years, the team has won two consecutive races. While F1 aficionados might view this as a miracle, it goes beyond that. The technical crew, headed by James Allison, put in all the hard work to achieve such results.

While the Silver Arrow fans are already excited, this is just the beginning. The team personnel, including Allison, have confirmed they will continue the work. Moreover,  there are more upgrades in a queue, which could further improve the W15’s pace and balance. Thus, the team is dubbed to replicate a similar display of racing in the upcoming weekends.

James Allison: The Upgraded Front Wings To Have Maximum Impact In Hungarian GP

The 2024 season has been full of shockwaves and turnarounds. While it started with Red Bull’s domination, McLaren and Ferrari quickly pulled things back. Moreover, everyone wrote the Mercedes team off, as their F1 prospect had way too many problems. The W15 was the biggest riddle on the grid, as it refused to gain pace despite consistent efforts. However, Allison & CO. were persistent in their efforts, and after a streak of failure, they have finally delivered. The technical crew has fixed the underlying balancing issues by improving the car’s aerodynamics. Further, the new front wings have been a game-changer, making the W15 the fastest car on the grid.

The Front Wing setup has been in the news for a while, and for all the right reasons. When it was first introduced in Monaco, only George Russell was able to use it. Later, after analyzing the situation, Mercedes introduced the front wings for both cars. Since then, the team has propelled to podiums and won consecutive races. However, James Allison said this wasn’t even the full utilization of the front wings. The Silver Arrows’ technical head explained that the new setup would be more impactful during the Hungarian GP.

Additionally, he mentioned that the front wings have enabled the drivers to navigate slow corners more smoothly. These corners were abundant at Silverstone and will be even more prevalent in the upcoming Hungary GP. Thus, Allison is confident that the new front wings, designed to increase speed, will make a significant impact next weekend. Ultimately, this could be a sign of worry for the rivals as Mercedes has indeed announced themselves in the F1 arena.

On the other hand, team chief Toto Wolff is singing praises for the entire Mercedes squad. After the win on the team’s home ground, Wolff was elated. He said that five races ago,  the Three-Pointed Star was not even a contender. But now,  suddenly, everything is making sense as the upgrades are finally translating to favorable outcomes. He believes the team has transitioned from mediocrity to excellence in a very short time.
