Lewis Hamilton had a decent season with Mercedes. After almost two years of misery, the Briton won a race in Silverstone. Everyone expected this to be the beginning of Hamilton 2.0. The seven-time world champion continued his dreamy run and won two more races. The Silver Arrows had completely changed the landscape and were back on track. Sadly, the joy was cut short after the summer break as the team returned to its slump.
The technical slump is the reason behind Lewis Hamilton’s remarkable switch to Ferrari, ending a decade-long run with Mercedes. Since introducing the ground effect, the eighth-time constructors champions have been clueless about the F1 car’s design. As a result, they have produced an aerodynamically handicapped car. In pursuit of a record-breaking eighth world title, Hamilton decided to join the Maranello squad. Despite an abrupt ending, the German Marque wants to give Hamilton a special farewell. Thus, with only four rounds to go, the team recently announced a surprise release for the Brazilian fans.
Mercedes Surprises Brazilian Fans With Special Lewis Hamilton Release
The Mercedes team has released the latest collection of Lewis Hamilton merchandise ahead of the Brazilian GP. Lewis will steer the W15 for the final time at what is said to be his second home. In 2022, Hamilton was honored with citizenship of Brazil and was a fan favorite in Sao Paulo. Although his popularity is global, Brazilian fans adore his racing skills. Thus, to capitalize on this fan base, Mercedes released a few collectibles, such as a hat and a t-shirt, especially for the Brazilian GP. The special edition Lewis Hamilton cap comes in a yellow and green shade inspired by Brazil’s national flag.
The second item is a t-shirt in a similar color featuring the “Mercedes AMG Petronas” motif, with Hamilton’s race number printed on the back. The German Marque announced the release of these limited-edition collectibles via a social media post featuring Lewis Hamilton rocking both items.
The seven-time world champion shares fond memories with the Sao Paulo GP, as his maiden world title came on Brazilian soil. In the penultimate race 2008, the Briton was up against the home favorite, Felipe Massa. The two were the top contenders for the Driver’s title, and Massa had to win the race to lift the trophy in front of the home crowd. Meanwhile, Hamilton had to finish in the top five to secure the silverware. The Briton was lagging throughout the race, and just when Massa and Ferrari saw the trophy coming home, Hamilton turned it around. He won the title by just a point. Ironically, Hamilton is set to join Ferrari next season– a team eager to see him win a world title in the iconic red-yellow race suit, ending their long title drought.
