Formula One has entered its final hour with six more rounds to go. The entire season has been full of thrills, as the World Title race is still wide open. Meanwhile, the Mercedes team has had a mixed season. The team started on a sour note, similar to the previous season. However, the technical crew overhauled its F1 project, resulting in consecutive victories. It all started with George Russell winning the Austrian GP, which was then extended by Lewis Hamilton’s double triumph.

The German Marque looked unstoppable in a brief period between the Austrian GP and the summer break. However, since the summer break, the Silver Arrows have lost the magical touch. The W15 is smeared with the same old issues, and both drivers struggle. Despite trying a new floor and a few other new components, the problem still persists. However, the Three-Pointed Star is in no mood to give up. Therefore, the squad has revealed the latest upgrade that will make Hamilton’s final outings memorable with the team.

When F1 returned to action in Zandvoort after a break, the Silver Arrows were riding on the momentous chariot. However, it was soon derailed by the gust of technical woes. From Tyre management to underlying balance issues, the W15 has been off-color since the Dutch GP. The F1 car, with its sensitive setup, has been underperforming in warm and humid conditions. It was evident on the Marina Bay City circuit that the incompetent cooling system resulted in borderline heatstroke for the Mercedes drivers.

Toto Wolff acknowledged the string of low performances. He claimed that the chances of Hamilton winning any more races with Mercedes appeared slim. However, the James Allison-led team is adamant about giving an emphatic send-off to the seven-time world champion in his last few races with the team. Mercedes technical chief James Allison gave an update about the team’s upcoming upgrade package.

Allison discussed the technical ailments after the Singapore GP, saying the team is determined to find a solution. During the race debrief, Allison asserted the need to fix the tyre overheating issues on a track like Marina Bay. Further, the British engineer also revealed Mercedes’s last upgrade is set to be used in Austin. The “new cloth” for W15 will substantially boost its performance. Thus, Allison is confident of a decent weekend in the upcoming race.

James Allison has recognized that the difficulties encountered at the Marina Bay Circuit have brought to light some persistent issues with the W15’s tire degradation. The circuit’s demanding traction zones intensified the team’s challenges in managing tire temperatures, a problem that has affected their performance in multiple races this season. Allison noted that using softer tire compounds on tracks with soaring temperatures tends to diminish Mercedes’ competitiveness relative to other teams.
